"A standout" and "the best player in the XFL" only means that he was almost, but not quite good enough to make the NFL. On a talent scale, he's not even as good as the average NFL backup QB, otherwise he'd still be on a roster somewhere.

He is on a roster somewhere. Here.

Jake Delhomme, Warren Moon, Kurt Warner, and others have been off NFL Rosters before they became stars.

Not that this guy is gonna be a star. Just saying the fact he wasn't in NFL doesn't mean he can't be good

The Panthers have no clue what they are doing. This will easily be the worst QB group in the NFL.  One of the worst I’ve ever seen.

The staff is just going after anyone they have experience with, which isn’t always a bad thing, but it is when it’s not legit NFL starting caliber players.

I never said he couldn't be good. And he was on an NFL roster, a couple times, and still couldn't stick.

And for every Warren Moon, Steve Young, Herschel Walker, etc. there are 100 guys who never got a shot.

But he's here, give him a shot. I'm just not pinning any hope of a successful season on his locker just yet.

Teddy is a good, quality NFL-starting QB.

After him, I don't think we have an NFL-caliber QB on the roster.

So did Bridgewater already sign the dotted line?

Straight up rather Start PJ Walker this season then pay Teddy over 20 million the next 3 years.

Tepper is a fuging idiot.

I agree just to add, Id rather stick with Cam too. Still if no Cam have Grier, Allen, and Walker have a real battle for starting. Theres a total new group of coaching, front office, leadership etc. They seem to want Teddy and were happy about the price. Gotta give them space and time. I have to remind myself, cause nearly ALL the moves I have serious questions.

What in the hell kind of good ole boy network signing is going on with this team.

Does he truly believe he needs to give a runout to anyone associated with temple and Baylor?

I predicted a long time ago that Big Mr. Christian Mr. Corch Rhule is gonna turn Charlotte into Temple/Baylor/Saints - Atlantic Coast Campus.

Enjoy!

And I wonder what other moves Diseased Tepper and HurnDawg can come up with to disrespect this franchise's now-former greatest player?

Luck was the main reason for Walker being in the XFL. He told his dad over and over, this kid gets "it". Luck was a big fan and bragged on his work ethic. I dont have any hopes outside of a backup and locker-room buffer for rhule to the players.

That is what RR did to Cam--and many of the people bitching now were those cheering when they had him running the option and QB draws, etc.

Cam didn't get the injuries that make him questionable now from the run plays.

His shoulder is shot from hits in the pocket.

His lisfranc injury from scrambling away from pressure in the pocket.

Cam's injury problems source is Rivera and Hurney not giving a bootlegger's fug about having competent OL in front of him.  The one GM we had that *did* show concern about bringing in "hog mollies" and had a bit of luck doing so got fired.

I think scheme and neglect to the oline did cam in. He’s not a traditional QB and when the staff asked him to be at the beginning of 2016 and he looked like trash after after 3 losses they took the chain off and he started to ball out. Can’t take away why makes him special. They used Cam to his best abilities just fine. But calling plays that take 7 seconds to develop behind patchwork oline got him killed.

Part of it, sure, but the OL was not calling options plays and QB draws.  when Cam had a bad shoulder.  RR, in my opinion, should have pulled Cam out of the game in protest when Denver speared him in the head over and over in the 2016 season opener.  He did nothing. In 2018 Cam could not throw it 30 yards for most of the season, and defenses knew it.  Rivera knew it too, and he knew why.  Big, slow WRs that took longer to run routes and get separation made Cam hold it longer, but they liked the big WRs because Cam was inaccurate-overthrowing people a lot.  They had 2 choices--get big WRs or fix the problem--Cam's mechanics.  I do not blame the OL---it was not worse than others in the NFL a lot of the time.   I blame a coach for not developing the player and playing him while he was hurt.  Those 2 factors may have ended Cam's career 5 years prematurely.  Shoulder injuries (cuffs) do not heal, but they do get worse.  Cam stayed in the games.  RR knew, but he had no solutions.  He was not winning without Cam--so Cam stayed in the game.  Screw the long term.

Yes, the pocket is where he got injured, but I did not say he was injured running the ball; I said he was running the ball after being injured.  I once saw Cam wince while diving for a first down, extending the ball as he landed.  He got up windmilling his throwing arm.  I thought RR would pull him out.  He did not.  Cam got the first down.  Win, Cam, Win.  My job is on the line.  Remember the season opener in 2016, when Cam was getting targeted to the head?  RR should have pulled him--pulled the referee aside, even if it cost a timeout, and blessed him out on national TV, telling him that he was going to pull his starting QB because the ref is not protecting him and the matter will go to the NFL on Monday.  Instead, Cam took a beating worse than any QB I have ever seen.  And now, he trades for a Panther QB, knowing 30-year old Cam, former MVP, is available and he takes Allen.  Rivera knows he whipped that horse to death.

He was not in the pocket, and he was already hurt (it was after the Pittsburgh game).  If he injured his rotator cuff in the pocket, why is he still running the ball?  They get worse.  IF the OL was the only problem, then RR knew about it and did nothing to keep his QB healthy.
