What numbers does Bridgewater have to produce for us not to draft a QB next year??

3300 yards or more

20+ pass TDS

12 INTS or less

63% Comp. or more

Still can't believe I'm even entertaining this conversation. I think you have to include wins because if we pick 1-3 I don't think there will be any doubt we will be drafting a Qb. If we pick 10 or higher I think the conversation is a little different and very dependent on how Teddy plays.

No you don't.. Do you blame Cam and The offense that was top 5 his rookie year but 6-10 record because they were held down by the worst defense...

Cam and the offense put up 32 points a game the Defense gave up 35 points... Are we blaming the offense for the 6-10 record??

That's  why I said individual numbers..

Tough question.

I don't think whether we take a QB next year is completely based on his numbers.  It is also dependent on what QBs are available when we draft next year.  He could hit the numbers you laid out, which seem reasonable (TDs are a little a hard one since we could be one of those teams that gets the ball near the goal line and then punches it in), but if "their guy" is available when we draft, they pull the trigger.  It might also be a matter of what type of QB they draft, somebody ready to become the starter in the short-term or a guy they like that will need time to cook.

It gets even tougher with the fanbase.  For some significant percentage it seems, following Cam is a little like being the QB that follows Brady, or followed Elway or Marino, or winding up as the coach who follows Belichick.  No matter what the guy does, it is never going to be enough.

For me, even though I wanted to see Cam back in 2020, if TB is productive and takes care of the ball, I will be happy.  I don't know if I can assign numbers to that.  I just want to see a path toward success.

While I wanted Cam back, I also was an advocate for the Panthers trying to acquire TB last years as an insurance policy.  Had they done that, we might well be right where we are today.

No matter what QB is coming out in my opinion.. If he is putting up great numbers and only 27 years old.. Why would you go for a question mark?? When this guy has already came in a proven he's good??

That's my problem with you Linville.. You have no doubt about your opinion.. What if you're wrong?? What if he puts up Mahomes type numbers .. Probably won't but what if he blow up in Bradys offense... Doesn't that top pick becomes a asset to maybe trade get more picks  to build around Bridgewater.... Its not impossible...

Obviously if he puts up Mahomes numbers then he's a franchise QB and if he does that, then we're likely not in draft position to land a franchise QB prospect.

Meanwhile, that seems about as likely to me as me discovering the cure to the coronavirus in my garage this evening.

There are no set numbers. We will take a QB with our first round pick next year. If he does well, we can throw him in as trade material to move up. He isnt a longterm answer.

So if this dude puts up 45 td 8ints 5,000 yards and completes 68% of his passes.. You're still going to draft a QB next year??

That's dumb as fug!!

No you still could be because this is a team game... You could be a top 10 offense and still lose games because your defense can't stop anybody.. We've seen this happened before here 2011...

You thinking this back up is putting up those numbers are dumb as fug!! This is the bullshit fantasy that got us as a bottom 10 team for the last few years. The NFL is all about franchise QBs: Teddy isnt one of them.

If your QB puts up Mahomes numbers, you're winning a lot of games. QBs don't put up MVP type numbers on bad teams.

Cam also was a #1 draft pick the year prior and at the time just put up the best statistical season for a rookie QB in NFL history...they are not the same. Teddy is a 27 year old JAG at best at this point in his career. We don't even know if HE can play a full season on that bad knee yet.

Reread what I said. Where in the draft would we be picking with a 6-10 record next season? More than likely 8 or lower. Even if Teddy has a good season if we are picking top 3 we will not pass on a Qb.

What's dumb is thinking we'll have a top draft pick if he puts up those types of numbers.
