What numbers does Bridgewater have to produce for us not to draft a QB next year??

Being realistic and not talking about Win loss record.. IMO we're still going to be a losing team no matter what.. Based off of the defense, Oline gelling,  and the normal trails and tribulations of adjusting to new coaches and scheme...

Beyond those things.. What individual numbers would Bridgewater have to produce?? To convince the team and fan base..  He is worthy of being a franchise QB you build around and not take Lawrence, Fields, Newman, or Trey Lance in the 2021 draft??

Imo 28+ total TD and less then 13 TO 4,000 total yards with a passer rating over 85.0 and  a comp % around 65.0....

Still can't believe I'm even entertaining this conversation. I think you have to include wins because if we pick 1-3 I don't think there will be any doubt we will be drafting a Qb. If we pick 10 or higher I think the conversation is a little different and very dependent on how Teddy plays.

This is a very complex question if you add things such as how he is in crunch time or the 2 minute drill. Also how well he commands the offense and if he can throw all the passes. I've watched tape on him and he seems to be very accurate at short and medium passes. He doesn't seem to attempt many long balls but when he does it seems he is accurate however he has a limited range around 45 yards. Anyway

Tough question. 

I don't think whether we take a QB next year is completely based on his numbers.  It is also dependent on what QBs are available when we draft next year.  He could hit the numbers you laid out, which seem reasonable (TDs are a little a hard one since we could be one of those teams that gets the ball near the goal line and then punches it in), but if "their guy" is available when we draft, they pull the trigger.  It might also be a matter of what type of QB they draft, somebody ready to become the starter in the short-term or a guy they like that will need time to cook.

It gets even tougher with the fanbase.  For some significant percentage it seems, following Cam is a little like being the QB that follows Brady, or followed Elway or Marino, or winding up as the coach who follows Belichick.  No matter what the guy does, it is never going to be enough.

For me, even though I wanted to see Cam back in 2020, if TB is productive and takes care of the ball, I will be happy.  I don't know if I can assign numbers to that.  I just want to see a path toward success. 

While I wanted Cam back, I also was an advocate for the Panthers trying to acquire TB last years as an insurance policy.  Had they done that, we might well be right where we are today.

If you don't have a franchise QB and you're in the position to draft a prospect you think is a franchise QB, you take the QB. Period. You don't let a veteran bandaid keep you from drafting a franchise QB prospect.

I find it hard to believe we only win 2 games if Bridgewater puts up franchise guy numbers. Fields and TL might not be there at 3 if the right teams are in the top 2.

Honestly, 30 plus TDs, 4000 yards, 10 or less picks and passing the eye test (including being able to utilize Samuel and the deep passing game well). I highly doubt that will happen, but if it does, great.

He was never the long term answer. As long as he is here we should be looking for someone better. A jag is a jag and not a franchise QB. We went through this with Delhomme. That's why when you compare Cam to Delhomme there is such a gap in what they bring to the table that it's very obvious.

I don't think it's as complicated as looking at his stats. I believe if we're bad enough to be in play for one of the top two guys, we take them. If not, we adjust the plan.

That's my problem with you Linville.. You have no doubt about your opinion.. What if you're wrong?? What if he puts up Mahomes type numbers .. Probably won't but what if he blow up in Bradys offense... Doesn't that top pick becomes a asset to maybe trade get more picks  to build around Bridgewater.... Its not impossible...

Or you use that pick to get more assets and build around the QB you have... Right?? 

Reality is at that point Teddy would have proven something.. While the rookie you draft would not have...

Example 

Brees and Rivers.. Of course  Brees got hurt which made that easier.. But what if he didn't?? Would you draft Rivers or use that pick to build around Brees??

There's no numbers teddy can put up that would keep us from taking sunshine if we pick that high. I think teddy can and will be a very solid QB but if we have the opportunity to take sunshine or fields which can both be superstars for the next 10-15 years then tepper will tell marty to draft one of the two.
