Is Randy Moss’s son any good? We need a TE and he went to LSU and worked with Joe Brady. Seems like a natural fit.

Pretty much the exact opposite of what you'd expect from Randy Moss's son. He's a pretty run of the mill athlete as NFL TEs go and is actually a really strong and willing blocker. I think he'll stick in the league for awhile, but probably as a #2 or #3 TE. For us, I absolutely think he'd probably be a better option than Chris Manhertz the moment he put on a jersey.

ive been going through the pro day results and there are some real jaw-droppers as far as guys with impressive measurables and athletic results. didnt list them or look up their tape though, even though there were more than a handful that justified a look based off their size and testing.

my notable, clemson lb/s, tanner muze.

just a quick pro day comparison with my draft crush, his teammate, isaiah simmons...

tanner muze - 6'2, 227 lbs, 4.38/4.40 40yd dash, 20 bench reps

isaiah simmons - 6'3 1/2, 238 lbs, 4.35/4.40 40yd dash, bench 20 reps

not as impressive as simmons past that, but competent enough to be considered NFL caliber for his position/positions. pedigree had me intrigued, so i checked some tape...he looks WAY too stiff on game tape to put up that kind of 40 time, but theres no denying that he is versatile, smart, has good fundamentals, very solid tackler, plays with passion and is a leader.

imo, he would be a great 5th-6th round colin jones replacement as our special teams ace and potentially captain of ST, with a higher football-acumen-ceiling than jones had, with the potential to step in to spell out players (like simmons ) without being an absolute liability...and maybe step in to play competent box safety when we need, since we lost reid.

ranks as 233rd prospect out of 250 by college football news. side note, james morgan, qb from FIU we apparently have interest in, ranks 235, both could be great additions late in the draft.

Wow. I would've never guess that Muse was that type of athlete. Kinda like UNC"s Cole Holcomb. He was a very productive LB for UNC after initially walking on, but everyone questioned his ability to translate to the NFL. He performed VERY well at the Combine and ended up being drafted by the Redskins in the 5th round, started 15 games last season and had over 100 tackles.

@LinvilleGorge whats your take on Myles Dorn?

Honestly, a poor man's Tre Boston. Similar players in that they make some splash plays at the expense of gambling and being out of position on other plays. I think Boston is significantly faster and overall more athletic. Dorn is the better tackler.

Strowbridge is the more interesting UNC defensive prospect IMO. I'm just not sure exactly where he fits. I think Dorn's value is as a versatile backup safety. I think he can play either FS or SS in most systems. Strowbridge at 6'4" 275 screams 4-3 DE, but I don't think he has the speed and athleticism to play there unless it's a Wes Horton type role. His better work has come inside but he'll need to add quite a bit of weight to hold up at DT. His best fit honestly might be an in between role, as in a 3-4 DE.

You just killed my goto 7th rounder in the mock drafts, but I always want a honest opinion.

The talent at safety drops off after the 4th round.  That's the reason I'm willing to wait until then, but I would honestly pass if we have not taken one by then.  A sizable drop off after that.

Speaking of which, I think it's humorously ironic that we will have players from UNC and NCSU as our starting safeties this year.  Friendly rivalry there you think?

Looks like a h-back type .. Not super fast but good hands and runs solid routes.. Not very big so that's why I see the H-back more then straight TE.. Not a great blocker at all.  Or inline blocker..

Yeah I'm starting to look at Secondary and DT tackles in the middle rounds because of how this FA period has gone so far??

No DT and 1 secondary signing is scary at this point..

Leki Futo looks like a monster and Jordan from OSU looks like a nice 5th round safety prospect..

Lamar Jackson is a 6'2 cb I'm looking at in later rounds as well.

Yeah, he's a good player. I'm just not exactly sure where he fits in the NFL. I don't think he has the juice to play 4-3 DE and he needs to add a good 20 pounds to hold up as a three technique. 3-4 DE might be his best fit.

So we trade up in the second round for him...:crying:

Fotu has been holding steady on many big boards as a solid 3rd rounder.  He may drop to the 4th, but I wouldn't bank on it.  I am still of the mind to double dip at DT and build our defense front to back.  If Okunda is the pick at #7, that's great but no way I take a second corner.

Like I said, according to whose big board you look at, there is a sizable drop of at safety talent around the 4th-5th.  They go from corner-skilled guys to inside the box guys.  I'm kinda over the bigger, slower pass liabilities back there.  The reason the team ditched Reid.  So once you hit area Reed from UGA, and the two safeties from Utah Burgess and Blackmon, that's what about the last three I would consider.  Drafting for depth defeats the whole purpose of upgrading the position to me.

I'm also thinking of double dipping at DT... if we  draft Brown I'd still grab a another DT in the 4th or 5th rounds.. IF we don't draft Brown I'd grab one in the 3rd then double it either in the 4th or 5th round... And I still got my eyes on James Lynch in the 6th round...

If we don't get Okudah in the 1st .. I'd probably double tap CB as well..  1 in the 2nd and 5th or 6th round...

Dugger is the only safety I'd go for in the 3rd round .. The rest are in the 4th or 5th round...

I love Wille Gay jr. In the 3rd if we don't get Simmons.. But wouldn't get any other LB until the 5th or 6th round.. Quatterman maybe..

I'm looking at LB in the 3rd or 4th.  I got my eye on the kid out Texas Tech, Jordyn Brooks.  Guy has done nothing but steadily climb big boards.  I first started mocking him in the 5th, then 4th and now the 3rd.  Put on his tape and you will see why. He has a Luke-like first step and diagnosis.  Once he's got a bead on the play, it's like he's shot out of a cannon.  He's projected as a late 3rd, but he may be worth a slight reach.

We are going to disagree on safety apparently.  This class is loaded.  The same rationale people are making about WR is why I would be fine taking one as high as round 2.  I'd personally take Winfield and Chinn over Duggar.  So yeah, it's deep.

I can't lay out every scenario, but ideally we get Brown and come back to DT in the 5th or 6th round.  In the middle, a CB and S for sure and then LB or C/G.
