Observation: Panthers have a plan, you’re just not gonna like it

How do we know what the plan is? What is our goal and target?

look at the contracts we are signing compared to what our division opponents are signing.

Panthers aren’t planning to compete with New Orleans and Tampa for the next 2 years....

we are planning to wait them out.

make no doubt if you still had any at this point. This is a full rebuild with our plan to start competing again in 2022 at the earliest, probably 2023.

embrace the suck.

Oh I like it. The only thing I would like to see is for any of these contracts we are throwing out now, to be 3 yr deals, structured in a way that we can cut bait if the player blows. This we we aren’t scrambling to replace these guys (if they work out) at the same time that we would be making a move at A high-priced FA to complete the team.

The long game is the smart play for sure...I just don't have faith for now in us pulling it off.  We need to go in full blown asset collection mode if that's the case.  Signing Teddy is the big problem though, unless it's to somehow someway help the young guys learn the offense quicker, it doesn't make much sense.

If we truly want Lawrence/Fields - - winning 4 or 5 games isn't helping that.  So say we're picking in the 4-7 range next year, only to trade the farm of future draft picks to move up and get the guy we could've gotten for "free" or less capital by trotting out Allen/Grier. Not to mention our best trade asset in CMC probably isn't going anywhere, because Tepper still has to market somebody and sell jerseys. Also for the record, I don't want CMC traded at all. Shedding bad contracts is smart, take the dead hit this year, sure...but if we're truly rebuilding/tanking, go all out and don't half ass it.

I can embrace the suck for 2020, but we better have a winning season in 2021 and compete in the playoffs in 2022.  In today's NFL that's the expectation for a rebuild unless you're the Browns or the Jets.

I wouldn't bet on a winning season next year.

Year three? Maybe.

    • Happy Thanksgiving y’all. Thankful for a very good team and for this group to talk canes.  Eat drink celebrate our win bs the rags. This team is cup ready.
    • I don't think should be seen as an insult, legitimately. Teddy's floor was consistently a good game manager to his ceiling of border-line top 10 QB who's arm strength didn't blow you away but could make all the throws and generally made good decisions and had some sneaky athleticism.  Teddy started on quite a few teams. He had a good start to his career, had a horrific injury that could have ended his career, came back and played himself into being a starter, got a contract here (and subsequently became another victim of Tepper's impetuousness), and then started games for a few other teams. Teddy could have been a franchise QB had he not suffered a freak injury, and then he just never ended up in another stable situation. He still had a good NFL career that could have been great without that injury. Teddy before that injury did look like a franchise QB, and I dont think that's a bad comp for Young nor an insult in terms of what his career could be based on that comparison.
    • Absolutely the wrong take. We have to run and gun. We have zero post presence. We just have to make shots. We just can't hit water from a boat tonight and we're turning it over to boot. Then you have a poor shooting opponent shooting lights out.  Looks like a long season ahead of us though if Hubert doesn't adapt to this roster. We have to play a pressure trapping D and get out in transition because we aren't beating anyone in the half court.
