Time to trade CMC?

THE ONLY way Tepper saves any face with me and a lot of other fans is by moving CMC right now for everything he can get.

If you want to commit to a new culture and say things like "nobody is safe," then prove it and invest in new players and draft picks while you can while trading away the best RB in the league, guaranteed to net you multiple early draft picks and players.

It’s funny people say a RB isn’t worth drafting in first then immediately we need to turn around and trade CMC for a first then plus some.

A new QB will need weapons.

You can sign weapons while a new QB is on a rookie contract or hell even with a 20m QB.

You’d be hard pressed to draft a CMC talent out of the first round. And that’s what you’d have to try and do.

CMC was used as a RB by Rivera. The same coach who sued out QB as a RB. Same coach with zero creativity. Same with Shula. Even Norv didn’t know how to use him that’s the old age mindsets at work. CMC has talents in outside of the tradition RB rolea too. I’m sure as hell Brady knows that.

CMC forces defenses to adjust when used as a traditional RB. Imagine some creativity.

He’s 23 years old...you don’t clear every single person on your roster in a rebuild...either people don’t comprehend how football teams work or play too much madden.

And the people advocating for trading him are as such. Don’t comprehend how this works or are butthurt about Cam and find some otherworldly way to compare the two situations.

It’s not going to happen.

I don't get this narrative, even in full tank mode next season, how are we supposed to compete in 21 and 22 of we load off entry good piece on the team?

And no, we do not need to give him a huge contract as the 5th year option och tag will be available.

Can anyone seriously think something like the 20th pick in this year's draft will help us to win more in 2022? Even with the cap space saved?

Feelings aside it's the SMARTEST course of action for a rebuild.(only player that will net the capital rebuilding teams usually look for)

I know we won't do it because he's the new face and I'm still not sure if they want full rebuild or baby full rebuild.

People want to believe CMC is the first guy to break the don't pay rbs mold, but history suggests otherwise. If his contract number hits projections(19 mil) it'll be high for a rb and/or a slot wr regardless which one you pick.

I love CMC, this is just what's real

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but you have to ask, should we consider trading McCaffrey?

His value will never be higher than it its right now.  He has one year left on a rookie deal (which is very appealing in a trade) and he is coming off of an amazing season that he might never repeat.

What kind of contract is he going to expect?  $15m?  $17m?  Do we want to pay that much for a RB?

What if our new offensive system actually throws to the WRs more?  Does he lose some of his value then?  Don't get me wrong, I think he is a heck of player but his usage rate is pretty high.

What if he packed with Cam in a trade?  I could see some owner being in a "win now" mode liking the idea.  What would Washington or San Diego give for both of them?  San Diego has made some nice moves on the defensive side of the ball.   You would think adding both Cam and CMC to their offense would definitely help , not to mention the buzz that would surround the team.

Its possible for a RB to not be worth drafting in the first and its also possible for a team to still be stupid enough to give a first for him.

People need to understand that in todays NFL running backs aren't as valuable as they use to be.  They also need to understand the concept of WAR, and the fact that a great RB doesn't really add as many wins to your team relative to an average RB as much as great players at other positions do relative to average players at their respective positions.

The one thing that does make CMC different is the fact he is so proficient in the receiving department so he is somewhat different than most RBs.

We only see it from front office side, but not from CMC side. He may not even want to be here. He may even ask for a trade because we arent even competing. Someone will trade for him but if he gets injured we will get nothing back. And he knows he is playing for a team that has no chance at competing

Him growing up around a superbowl culture doesn't make it any better..

Not for a traditional RB that isn't very involved in the passing game and has to come off the field in 3rd and long situations.  But for an every down back that has to be accounted for every snap and is probably better than most WR's in the league at catching the ball.....go ahead and pay him imo.

If the indications are that he doesn't want to stay for a second contract I wouldn't mind pulling the trigger on a trade. I am tired of bad to no value when players leave the team and the way we operate I am not banking on any comp picks at this time. I also have no idea why he would want to be here for a second contract when he could have the pick of the litter in free agency, you know other than enormous amounts of money. I just don't know and wouldn't even guess at this point at what CMC wants in his future.
