Chip Kelly 2.0

I mean all the experienced players on this team have been leaving in droves since Rhule was hired. I have a hard time believing he is going to be able to command respect in the locker room short term. Maybe long term. He’s only ever coached kids before and his style was “preachy” to say the least.

Luke retired for health reasons. Olsen got released because he was no longer valued at what he was going to make this year... Seattle gave him a ONE year UP TO $7 million proving us right. Cutting/trading vet players with bloated contracts is very common when a new staff comes in. The players we are signing appear to be high character guys (Teddy and Weatherly definitely). I can imagine many of our current players speaking out about our staff like what happened with Chip and the Eagles. CMC and Shaq are going to be our new leaders, both players work hard and are high character guys. Honestly the only players I could see speaking out would have been a Reid or Turner...

Stop being so frigging stupid.  Do you really think a coach could take over depleted, nearly winless programs and in the third season---start beating top 20 teams on a regular basis?  Baylor gave Oklahoma (twice) and Georgia all they could handle.  36 months--couch coaches--you have to recruit from the trash heaps and bargain bins, take on transfers who lost starting jobs at the big schools---and before your first recruiting class are seniors---and you think he sucks because he did not romp into Norman and kick ass?

That might be the most Madden approach to football I have ever read. If you are bashing Rhule, you obviously know nothing about building a franchise.  Zip.  Rhule performed a miracle at Temple and turned around and did it again--and you all bash him for not winning a national title?

Unbelievable.

Chip’s first 2 seasons were each 10-6. He lost his players’ confidence in year 3 with talks of racism and him distancing himself from his players. That’s when everything fell apart and he got fired. The Niners gave him a go and it was worse. I doubt Rhule is going to have a hard time connecting with his players. If you compare him to Chip, he wasn’t the worst coach, just didn’t have the personality for the NFL (the whole talks of racism didn’t help and is disturbing one way or another).

Chip Kelly was a control freak.  He wanted to tell his players when to eat, what to eat, when to sleep, how to work out, everything.  He did it at Oregon to a bunch of 18-20 year olds and won so they had really no choice but to listen.  He came to the NFL and tried to do it to a bunch of 25-30 year olds and they said F U.  That's where all the racist talk came from, some players thought he was being racist because he wanted guys to change there whole life to what he thought was right.  He wasn't being racist, he was just an asshole that everyone hated.  That's what killed Chip Kelly.  Chips is actually a really good X & O guy but terrible with people. Especially adults that won't do what he says.

You know the formula for this.

1) Start with an opinion

2) Attempt to assemble facts to support that opinion.  Any facts or numbers will do, whether relevant, out of context, one-time events, or not.

3) Disregard any facts or numbers that do not support the opinion.

4) If called on this, double down.

5) If that does not work, revert to #2 and start again.

Rhule is trash. Not qualified for the job at all.

Remember when the guru Chip Kelly took over in Philly.  He gutted that team and did nothing with his changes.

I see the same thing happening here but we did it far more brutally.  Forced Luke into retirement, *Mutually parted ways with Olsen*, lied to Cam the entire offseason about waiting until he was healthy.  Maybe we should Trade CMC then Rhule can bring in his running back from Baylor.

Tepper wants to win but we'll be luck if we can beat a good college team.

This moves are painful to watch.  I hope Cam takes whoever he signs with to the Super Bowl.

Dave! Come on, man, I know you're better than this. I know it!

He’s in a profession where he’s used to pissing people off and doesn’t care for now what we all think.

That works great in finance. Not so much in entertainment. I very much doubt that he would do that on purpose.

The point is he’s not worried about fans in the short term,... it’s all about new rebuilt product in a couple of years.

im surprised he doesn’t try to change the name and rebrand too

I don't necessarily disagree, but it seems like that would be a really risky move. Especially with Carolina fans who are all pretty fresh off the bandwagon compared to some other franchises! And all of whom still have that backup team they grew up with. One of whom now has our former coaching staff. heh.
