A kinda serious, way too long question about Teddy.

So you obviously were wrong that we ever tanked on purpose and now start throwing stuff against the way hoping it sticks. As for what we are doing now and the Gross comment, what does that have to do with tanking and the fact you were wrong?  And again I don't even know what the plan is, I can only speculate about the system we will run  so how these guys are going to fit into the new system better than who we had won't be revealed until the season starts if we even play.  So how does anyone know the future?. What I am not doing is constantly bitching and whining like you are, when no one knows the future about things you have no clue about. But carry on, this is pretty consistent for you so why stop now

Lol. Ok. It’s not worth trying to explain anything when you keep ignoring my request to tell me how the FO that you never question is making us competitive. How are we better this year? Please do tell. It’s so obvious we tanked before and are sort of trying to this year. We aren’t doing it the easy way with Teddy but we certainly aren’t a better team. It’s funny that we are doing exactly what I said to do with two exceptions, don’t sign a stop gap QB and sign Roberts after the draft, but I’m bitching because I’m questioning the people you don’t dare question. I’m consistent, you’re predictable. I state my views and answer any question. You avoid and deflect any questions by saying people don’t know football and we aren’t NFL GMs. Very predictable.

Yeah, I mean they technically fuged up the "tank" job that everyone thought they were going for but I don't really think Burrow is an elite, once-in-a-lifetime kind of QB anyway. They will get a good QB prospect and then a SHITLOAD of other talent as long as they, as you say, don't "Brown it up."

I would trade with them in a heartbeat right now.

They are in a MUCH better spot than we are right now, that's for sure.

Hard to stomach, but very predictable.

He's been doing that dance for years.

I trust Jerry to be smarter than you, I trust Tepper, I trust Marty, etc. etc. etc....

And here we sit, once again, as one of the worst teams in the NFL, continuing to not make the most out of the poo sandwich that Dave and Marty shoved down our throats.

Again, this isn't called tanking, it's called being so bad at your job that you find yourself in the very best position to select at the top of the draft next season.  The "tank" was over, it was done, Marty had somehow done it once again, put the Panthers in the spot to get the 1st pick in the draft.

I mean, this team is so laughably bad that we still might get it, but we are trying hard to get that 5th pick just in case.

Maybe you are slow so let me be real clear. I can't speak to a plan or how we are going to be better based on the very limited information we have at this point. The only people who can are the coaches and people making the plan. And since they haven't told us the plan intelligent folks are waiting until they know more and can make informed decisions. Others are running around making all kinds of off the wall statements and ipinions with nothing concrete to base them on.  And of course I don't agree with everything the FO does and anyone who actually knows what I believe can find numerous examples of me disagreeing. Case in point I think we should have kept Cam and am not very high on Bridgewater. But instead of going off the deep end and criticizing the move * am waiting to see if it was a good move or bad. Something we won't know for months. The difference is I try to understand the plan before commenting where you seem to have an opinion about everything whether you have a clue or not.

Not at all. If you were here in 2010 you would know I was one of Jerry's biggest critics when everyone else was all about letting the young guys play. He really screwed things up and I was right there complaining. Like many times I was right about things again even though I was in the minority like usual. I bitched we got rid of Norman and didn't replace him with a veteran and went with 2 rookies. The list is long. I just don't follow the group think around here and try and understand what the team is doing rather than think I know better or that everyone sucks. If that means I take more of a wait and see approach and don't overreact  like many here, then. I am guilty as charged.

They signed Teddy because Joe Brady worked with him in New Orleans and believes he will play well in his offense. He certainly is better than Grier or Allen. And the Panthers, for whatever reason, are no longer committed to Cam.

Tanking a season to draft a player is not a guarantee. There have been a lot of first round QB busts in the NFL.

Strange that one season working together as an assistant and back up makes Brady this confident in him. Interesting to see how this will work out.

I mean, he'll be like 22 out of 32 on starting QB salaries when all is said and done.  It's really not a big deal.  Look at how much Fitzmagic was making on deals throughout his career (relative to cap inflation)

Look what Tannehill is making.

We could very well still suck and will most likely be in the top 10 draft wise next year.

My only wish is that we don't end up with Herbert or Fromm.  That's it.

Jmo .. Its a hedge your gamble move... Its giving you better odds to succeed..

If Bridgewater is really good.. You still lose because the rest of the team isn't and you're going to have missteps and failure learning a new scheme and system... So you end up with a franchise QB (on a cheap deal) already on the roster.. Still a top 5 or top 10 pick (asset) .. And Alot of Cap space the next  few years to surround him with talent..

If Bridgewater is a game manager like he has been most of his career.. This is still a bad team.  Bridgewater becomes a asset next offseason or a Bridge QB  until the new QB takes his place.. Still alot of cap space..

If Bridgewater sucks.. Same thing happens as if he's just a game manager.. Just he becomes a back up sooner and cut the year after that...

Are NFL Rookie of the Year and "game manager" mutually exclusive?

Yes, they are.

Big Time Teddy is going to blow our doors off, this guy is the real deal.

I'm tired of all the whining.

This guy is only 27 and has been NFL ROY in year-1.  Led his squad to the playoffs and was a Pro Bowler in year-2.  He has 2-years of tutelage under 3 of the most keen offensive minds in the NFL, one of whom will be his coach here in the CLT.

Let's get reaaaddy to ruuuummmMMMBBBBLLLLE!!!

Exactly. The whole tanking thinking is being espoused by those who have never played sports at a competitive level. Otherwise they would know teams don't tank and if they tried they would have to be able to guarantee the outcome of the draft, and you can't.

The simple answer is the guys we let go don't fit the mold the new coaches want. They believe that Bridgewater in Brady's system will do better than Cam who doesn't fit what Brady wants to do. This staff isn't tanking and in fact plans to be competitive in the fall. Whether that happens is a huge question mark. Given I can't do anything but sit back and watch, I am going to be hopeful that they know what they are doing. But I am not going to post constant threads bashing the team until I see what happens. There will be plenty of time to do that in the Fall if things don't work out

Couldn't have said it better myself and I've tried to inject reason into this and other threads but some people just aren't willing to listen. Cheers to you for fighting the good fight and here's to the 2020 season.

further I think the draft (barring any trade ups) is going to break in favor of one of those two guys being there

Cin 1- Burrow

Was 2- Young

Det 3- Okudah

NYG 4- Simmons

Mia 5- Herbert (I think the dolphins love herbert and am kind of willing this into existence)

LAC 6- OT

CAR- TUA

I have even more evidence of this. There was a rumor swirling around a week ago that Rivera "loves Tua". What better way to get back at your former team than teasing you love the prospect you know they want?

That would be so ideal but I think la drafts a qb

If they do take Tua, I would run up there to scoop up Brown who is the best DT in the draft and maybe the best defensive player in the draft. The defensive line suddenly got much better.
