A kinda serious, way too long question about Teddy.

Lol. The old never played competitively. That’s horseshit and you know it. Based on the fact that you never question the coaching/FO, makes me think it’s your experience that’s lacking.

Let me repeat myself yet another time. We have tanked twice and it worked both times. Trying to act like teams don’t tank is silly. They don’t come right out and say it. They don’t tell their players to roll over and lose. They just don’t sign too flight FAs, trade away vets or expensive contracts and they acquire draft capital. What if Trevor and Fields don’t come out? What if they get hurt? The Dolphins tried and failed (hint, they didn’t, look at their cap space/FA signings and their 5 first round and 4 second round picks this year and next). Get a plan and stick to it. You can’t guarantee anything in life, but it doesn’t mean sit around and try to get a good pick and try to be competitive. You can’t do both.

When you lose Olsen, Cam, Luke, Bradberry, McCoy, Irvin, Addison and others and you were 5-11 and you sign Weatherly, Burris and Roberts, you aren’t trying to contend this year. Please tell me how that’s trying to be competitive.

Yeah, Miami did a fantastic job of stockpiling draft picks. It is crazy how much they accumulated.

Teddy allows Joe to run the offense day 1.  QB gets it.  That is the hard part.  Then it is just about everyone else learning it.

I don't think 2020 is about winning.   Don't think Teddy signals that.  Teddy just allows them to start building the offense from the ground floor up.

Tanking is such a weird term.  We will try to win with what we got.  No doubt.  No team tries to lose.  Not the coaches or players on the field.

but I suspect we suck.  I suspect Tepper and Rhule expect that year 1 and they rebuild us

At this point it is hard to have any confidence in the concept of winning this year particularly if the Corona virus delays everything into the summer. The small advantage we get having a new staff and getting to start early will likely be wiped out if we all start the same time in a delayed schedule. As you say, Teddy knows the offense and can help whoever we see as the long term solution.

I laugh when people mock them. They are very likely getting Tua (or Herbert if they like him) and then 8 other players in the first or 2nd round the next two years. They also had $90M in cap space this year. No idea if they will draft well but if they do, they could be good for a while and run the AFC East. If they Brown up the picks then just a wasted golden opportunity. With all these rookie deals (5 guys with 5th year options), that’s why they could splurge with no concern.

True but to nurture that QB they have to be protected.  Go back and look at the past 8 super bowl teams, they all have incredible lines.

Draft Herbert at 7th. The 2020 season will be cancelled. 2021 draft fix the o-line. Plan executed.

The tanking in 2010 was not about tanking for a high draft pick. It was Richardson thinking that the workstoppage was going to last a long time and he was saving cash after a disappointing 2009. He didn't think we would play and when we did we cobbled together a team and ultimately overpaid in 2010 for guys like Williams because we had to show our fans we weren't tanking and wanted to be competitive. Otherwise.we haven't tanked to my knowledge. We surely didn't do it in 2001 intentionally although we sucked.  You seem to lack basic knowledge about the team history and every time you repeat it just confirms your lack of understanding about basic football

Yeah, I mean they technically fuged up the "tank" job that everyone thought they were going for but I don't really think Burrow is an elite, once-in-a-lifetime kind of QB anyway. They will get a good QB prospect and then a SHITLOAD of other talent as long as they, as you say, don't "Brown it up."

I would trade with them in a heartbeat right now.

That’s the other thing, there really wasn’t QBs like Fields and Lawrence in this draft. Tua was the closest pre injury but even he wasn’t this hey we gotta tank for him. They got the 5th pick and a ton of draft capital. That’s what they wanted. 1st pick would have been nice but they were looking for picks not as much draft slot.

Yep, starting Weinke and Clausen is so much different than say starting Grier. Starting a poo QB and not signing FAs is typically the same thing. Even Jordan Gross said they got rid of guys who didn't fit a five year plan, but I guess he doesn’t get football either, does he. Call it saving cash for a work stoppage, whatever. No need to get your panties in a wad over the word tank.

Also, how come you ignored my request. Please tell us how we are making a 5-11 team more competitive based on the players lost and gained. Do tell as I really need your football experience to understand that. Lol at trying to keep up that schtick.

lol if you only knew...

It’s a bad word. Look at my post above. We were 5-11, 1-15 to finish the last two years. No one who thinks we aren’t tanking can explain how we are making this team competitive.

I will say if we are competitive, we’ve got the best coach in the NFL. Not ready to say that.

So you obviously were wrong that we ever tanked on purpose and now start throwing stuff against the way hoping it sticks. As for what we are doing now and the Gross comment, what does that have to do with tanking and the fact you were wrong?  And again I don't even know what the plan is, I can only speculate about the system we will run  so how these guys are going to fit into the new system better than who we had won't be revealed until the season starts if we even play.  So how does anyone know the future?. What I am not doing is constantly bitching and whining like you are, when no one knows the future about things you have no clue about. But carry on, this is pretty consistent for you so why stop now
