A kinda serious, way too long question about Teddy.

The Panthers did something stupid in signing TB and here is how it happened. Rhule and his coaches are wildly overconfident in their system, offense and defense, because all they're ever known is success. So if a player is poop but fits the system better, then they pull the trigger, rather than alter things to fit Cam, the brought in the 3rd best QB on the Saints roster. TB isn't leading this team anywhere in his 3 years here. Period. TB is a game manager who would need a YEET team all around him to drag him into the playoffs. Bad news, our team mostly devoid of any talent, and that takes a long time to change. We are a ship dead in the water, and we added a very weak propeller engine. Not good.

We're in a position now where we have to draft a QB at 7, or hope for one the top picks in the following draft.

Spoiler alert - the 2020 season will be cancelled, or you'll wish that it had.

So you build around one guy and he gets hurt, the whole thing fails. Look at last 2 years for proof. Put players in around a system and one gets hurt, you plug the next guy in. Sounds like a smart approach to me?

Luck didn't exactly set the NFL on fire and ended up not even the best QB drafted in his draft class.  Multiple QBs out performed him from his draft class.  He's probably a bad example for tanking for a QB working.

The point isn't about how good Luck was or wasn't (psssst, he was), the point was he was a "can't miss QB" in the eyes of every team in the NFL.  He was going to go number 1 no matter what.

That's the same with both of the QB's coming out next year, and the point of the entire conversation is that it's going to be hard to get to where we can grab one of them if we are drafting outside of the top 3.

Or maybe they just, you know, signed him because Joe Brady is familiar with him and he knows the system?

Does it really need to be more complicated than that?

I would bet good money TB will be hurt this season. He's skinny with a bad knee. He'll be playing from behind with a bad o-line and no defense. Allen will end up starting if the season is even played. (Please let us draft Herbert)

TB is not a leader and not talented enough to make any difference on a bad team. Things will look comical when he starts throwing picks all over the place.

After pondering on this more, I am of the opinion that Tepper soured greatly on Cam Newton's personality, and is of the same mindset as a number of fairly ignorant posters here who have gone out of their way to regularly vent about everything from the way he dresses, to how he conducts himself on the football field.

I don't think signing Teddy is just a football related move, I think it's a saving face move in more ways than one. Bridgewater is not going to rock the boat or make anyone uncomfortable by being "too black" and ruffling feathers of the wine and cheese types that gasped loudly at the "showboating" as they perceived it.

For me sports in the Carolinas has shifted a bit. The Hornets have gone from being a joke, to being the team I will seek out more than the Panthers. At least the Hornets allow their players to be themselves, and if you try to talk to these usual types here about the NBA you get remarks about greedy overpaid players and a league that bends to the will of the players. That sort of rhetoric isn't even veiled. You see where it stems from too in the need of so many here to fall on their swords for billionaire owners and bash players.

It's a half measure Scot, that's my frustration.
