It's really not all that surprising.

Everyone assumes he had a bunch of tackles because he was good in the box, which is partly true 

He also had a lot of tackles because he got beat in coverage and had to scramble to get the tackle.

He was absolutely picked on often last season.

Reid was a bum that missed a TON of tackles because he wouldn’t wrap up.  I’m glad he’s gone... along with his sh*t attitude and SJW nonsense.  +1 for Tepper, Hurney, & Rhule here.

He is sorely overrated by some on this board because he made a political stance. Gave up a near perfect passer rating when targeted. And everyone complains about his whiffed shoulder tackles. 
 

He is excellent at blitzing. And that’s really the only thing he does exceptionally well. Literally everywhere else he’s just a jag but since he made himself a political symbol, people act like he’s this highly underrated safety.

For what it’s worth, I literally always defended his right to take a knee and you can look back at my post history to verify. But just cause he does that doesn’t mean he’s worth more than backup status for most teams in this league.

That was also part of the problem though. He would always try to hit stick players even when he needed to just wrap up.
