Rhule and Hurney want to win now.  Sorry if that doesn't fit what you want

So says the franchise that has never had back to back winning seasons.

I want to win also, in the playoffs, not 9-7 and miss the playoffs instead of 6-10.

People said the same thing last year about singing Paradis.  Why pay 5m for a player when you can wait a few months and get a player about as good, for a third of the price plus an extra pick.  Do that enough and you save enough money to actually go out and get a really good free agent, the type that helps you win Super Bowls, like a Moss or Revis.

Go look at the winning percentage of teams for the past 15 years, then look at a list of who has received the most comp picks over that time.  There is a pretty big correlation.

Its just not about the draft pick itself.  Like people are quick to say, most the vast majority of 6th round picks aren't gong to turn into good starters, but if you have enough of them sooner or later you get lucky.  Even if they don't turn into a starter, maybe the are a good backup like Mayo, those players are good for a roster.  Decent player who filled a roster spot for 4 years on a very cheap cost controlled contract.

Maybe you use those later picks to move up a few spots earlier in the draft, maybe you use one  of those picks to trade for a decent vet on an expiring contract.

    • And really, it should be 4 reasons with the last one being that there were ZERO other offensive weapons on that team in 2024, opposing defenses only had to worry about one player all year long and they constantly double and triple teamed him right off the snap all season.  In 2023, we still had Jacob Cowing who had 90 catches that year and was drafted by the 49ers last year, so teams couldn't just send everyone after T-Mac on every passing down.
    • I wonder if the Hornets view Kon and McNeeley more as forwards and plan to ship off Green/Okogie/Smith for center help. I hope they don’t plan to ship off Sexton as I like what he brings to the team. (2) G - Ball, Mann, Simpson (two-way) (3) G - Sexton, Dinwiddie, Connaughton (3) F - Miller, Knueppel, McNeeley, James (two-way) (3) F - Bridges, Williams, Salaun (3) C - Diabate, Kalkbrenner, Plumlee
    • 3 main reasons he was better in 2023 and none of them concern me for his NFL prospects 1. Totally new coaching staff that was a massive downgrade and had god awful play calling and designs, the entire fan base was ready to run the coaching staff out of town a month into their first season and the play caller ended up getting changed because it was so bad. 2. Along with the staff downgrade, his QB played significantly worse after being the Pac 12 Freshman of the Year in 2023.  Constantly missed T-Mac when he was wide open, lost out on a number of TDs and a good amount of yardage, half the time T-Mac still almost made miraculous catches on the bad passes too. 3. He hurt his ankle over the summer and missed all of fall camp only to return to practice a few days before the season started and I think he had to deal with it all season long and was slightly limping at times mid season too, but kept fighting through it to still be a 1st team All American.
