Good news. Finally got some numbers on the Bruce Irvin contract. Good for another 6th round pick.

Nice find

$5.5 million is pricey, we got him for $4 last year.

Bruce Irvin's one-year deal with the Panthers is worth $4 million, but it can go up to $5 million with incentives, according to a league source.

Whew, even Van Roten's 6th is dicey.  Notice his contract is for the least amount at $3.5M.  If this dude is correct at OTC (and he usually is) we BARELY got a comp pick.  If he's ever so slightly off, Van Roten won't count.  I won't hold my breath until I see the official release of comp picks from the NFL.

Right but we could get one by releasing Davis as well

Nope, the comp pick portion of the offseason is over and even if Davis does get released and later re-signed, it won't be for the $3 million he current is scheduled to make...not that it matters anymore.

I'm sure they have to play to have it count against us

Edit or make the final roster

After the draft, comp picks are no longer factored in.  Any FA additions or subtractions from a team's roster after the draft has zero impact on comp picks, no matter how much the contract is valued at.

If you are talking about Van Roten in particular, as longer as he makes the opening day roster, we will get his comp pick if it holds up.  It doesn't matter how many snaps he gets.

Hopefully, the UDFA WR steps up and we dump Roberts. Might be able to move up to a 5th for Butler if McCoy cancels Weatherly. $3.5M for Roberts before this draft was awful. I’d bet we could have waited till post draft and he’d still be there.

So is there still a chance we could move up to a fifth or a fourth if we cut Roberts?

Actually, looks like they have Butler at a 6th now. I know he was at a 5th before but it’s also all based on the rest of the picks. I think the best we can expect would be two sixths or a 6th and 7th. Most likely the latter. Unfortunately, the good ones we could have gotten are 100% gone.

So basically if we could have passed on Bridgewater and gone full rebuild we could have ended up with a 3,4,and two 6s.  Not to mention cap savings of close to $30m (if you factor in not signing Anderson and Weatherly, which why would you if going full rebuild).

Not to mention probably guaranteed ourselves at top 5 pick, in a year when there is looking to be 2, if not 3, really good QB prospects.

Rhule and Hurney want to win now.  Sorry if that doesn't fit what you want
