Cam’s tenure summed up in one word “wasted”

Wasted on bad coaching, bad front office, bad weapons, bad protection and bad ownership.

In his 9 season in Carolina Cam’s best weapon was a 32 year old Steve Smith, the best protection he ever got was his rookie season when Gross and Kalil were still in their primes. The best running game he ever had was also his rookie season when both Stewart and D-Will were productive. The best coaching he got was under Norv who by all accounts is not even that good if a coach. Years wasted drafting defensive player after defensive player, never even trying to bring in a big name free agent, still never drafting a Olineman in the first round.

It sucks now that we finally have an offensive minded coaching staff with some weapons with untapped potential, Cam getting traded or released.

Cam did his best trying to make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t

1st mistake.

2nd year in the league Marty doesnt replace Shockey instead adds Tolbert. The Two TE's sets are what made Cam so difficult to defend (think Baltimore with Lamar last year). Panthers probably make the playoffs his 2nd year had they addressed another pass catcher instead of a FB.

2nd mistake (MAJOR)

Hiring Shula. Yes, the Panthers made the playoffs...even made the Super Bowl. However, what you did in promoting one coach is effectively weakened two coaches/positions. Weaker at QB coach and weaker at OC. Cam being "better" was simply because of talent and maturation. However, the play calling was usually stagnant and Cam seemed not as polished as he should be.

3rd mistake

Compensating for Shula's lack of innovative play calling caused the Panthers to run Cam into the ground. Ravens example, you notice Lamar seemed better running this past season compared to his rookie year? He didnt get better at running the ball. He simply had an OC that had a great feel for WHEN to run him. Always keep defenses on the edge and dialing up the right times to take a shot.

4th mistake

The handling of Smitty/poor drafting of Wrs. Either they should have brought Smitty back for the next couple of years or drafted/planned for his eventual exit. Drafting Hopkins instead of DT would have went a long way to helping Cam reach his potential. KB had documented issues at FSU before his stellar year with Jameis. There were better talents drafted after him.

5th mistake

They should have pulled the plug on Cam's season after the injury against PIttsburgh. The decision to ride him out ultimately led to the erosion of his shoulder.

Cam has his limitations as a passer. However, with Andy Reid he would be looking at a HOF career. With an organization that valued him more would have addressed that Oline/WR core.

Cam became a really good player. He should have been an all time great.

We got 9 entertaining seasons.

Sucks we never got a ring but Cam's tenure here was not a waste.

Wouldn't trade that 15' season for the world.

Best years in the panthers history and Cam is the most impactful player in our teams history, that doesn’t mean his talent wasn’t wasted. He’s only 31 years old and were already moving on.

Luke’s tenure summed up in one word “wasted”

Luke had a defensive minded HC who  drafted d-linemen every year to make his job that much easier. Luke was catered his entire career.

Cam not so much.

Cam is an all world talent. Cam was not provided adequate talent to aid him in being successful consistently. Cam did great things he’s the reason we made our second SB. The fan base will always love him. This new regime wants their own guy and I don’t blame them. Almost a decade old QB, it’s time for a fresh start and for this staff to get a chance to do it the way they want. We all will miss Cam but this game isn’t stagnant. We will hopefully start our course towards a SB sooner than later.

A SB we should of won if he actually went out and got better weapons

The Panthers finished the regular season with a 15–1 record, racking up the league's top offense, and quarterback Cam Newton was named the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP). They defeated the Arizona Cardinals 49–15 in the NFC Championship Game
