Panthers will get nothing for Newton after signing T.B.

I do understand that - but if they did that they guarantee they get nothing because he is a FA.  At least this way they have a chance.

I would argue he would garner a comp pick and if he put the team on his back as he has many times his trade value the following year would be significantly improved.

They have almost no chance of getting anything for him in this scenario because of his recent history and Corona meaning he can't prove his fitness.

Its a worse case scenario for everyone. I can only guess that a man like Tepper who made his fortune in handling assets, deeply dislikes Newton and wants rid of him at any cost.

Bridgewater may be the superior decision maker & pocket passer at this point in time.

I prefer a healthy Cam Newton in a Joe Brady offense to Bridgewater. Cam played under Check-it-Down Norv and Shula for his entire career. We all wondered what he would look like with a real offense.

He will be a FA next year....he has zero trade value after the season next year.

Tag and trade? If he had a good season. If he had a bad season you've lost nothing. I don't care what the optimists on here think, he's not going to be worth anything right now.

sportstalk is no one wants cam.   la canfora is reporting the chargers aren't going to pursue him at all - opting for tyrod and drafting a qb.  new england is left, that's it.    no bidding war, no interest.    maybe the reporting is bs.  we'll see

I would probably correct this.

Teams want Cam, they don't want to sign him to an extension before seeing if he can stay healthy.

I think that's the rub, however if Cam is willing to play for another team without an extension, I bet we could get something immediately.

Sorry, but this is a stupid thread. If we wanted Teddy we had to move now over somebody else, like Indy. We weren't going to get much for Cam anyway. Maybe a mid rounder because he was hurt for the last 3 years. He is not the Cam of 2015 and I an a HUGE Cam fan. He can still be a great QB, if, big IF, he can stay healthy. Who's going to give up a nice draft pick for the unknown? And with a rebuild, do you think Cam would actually have a good season? Maybe he didn't really want to stay and he convinced them with hints. I would have wanted out if I was in Cam's shoes. And I hope Cam lands somewhere and does great. Not to make us look stupid because of the man and player he is.

Even a release might bring us a 3rd or 4th comp pick. There's a bigger plan than most fans can see. It's like living paycheck to paycheck, you don't know how to invest in the future because you're living short term. Look at the long term plan and you can see the guys that Rhule is putting around him. Workers bees. Give them 1 to 2 years before we fly off the handle on every move.

And if think this is all Hurney or Tepper, or Rhule it's all 3, working together. let's give it a chance.

No comp picks if we release him just cap savings which is gone with Teddy.

They also don't want to trade for him when they figure they can get him for free by waiting us out.
