New Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater's 6.1 average depth of throw was easily lowest in the NFL last season

Exactly.

They chose The Golden Calf of Bristol 2.0 over Teddy Bridgewater. Not really a glowing endorsement.

What is being conveniently left out of this conversations is that the Gold Calf 2 costs them a little over $4.5M, while they expected Bridgewater to be well north of that.  The Saints are not exactly awash in cap space.  In fact, right now they are either slightly over (per OvertheCap) or under by a little more $5M (per Spotrac).  Those numbers mean the decision on Bridgewater was not theirs to make.

That's not really true.

Reports were they did want him back, just not as much as they wanted Taysom Hill.

I think you are overplaying they wanted Taysom Hill back more.

We both know Taysom Hill wasn't going to costs the Saints as much as Bridgewater, and Hill is content with his place in the Saint's long term plans.

They put a first round tender on Hill and let Bridgewater walk.

That's a pretty clear sign.

when you adjust for rising contracts, the deal is actually weirdly similar to what Mike Glennon got from Chicago just prior to them drafting trubisky.

I don't know that I trust that that is what the team is doing though.

I think they are playing him a bit--telling him that he is a starting QB---the Saint QB of the future---to get him to stick around and play cheap.  I dunno how good he is, but I know he will be 32 when Brees' contract expires--assuming they do not extend him another season.  At 32, he gets his shot.

For what, 3 years?  10 to 1 New Orleans drafts a developmental QB--someone like Hurt or Fromm this year, any number of QBs next year.

It was a financial decision, and I do not believe Hill is the QB of the FUTURE.

Saints writers do.

The current plan is reported to be that the Saints will use the next year or two to transition from Brees to Hill.

Ok, but I was asking you do you think the Saints would have rather had Bridgewater or Hill all things being equal?

I mean the football world knows the Saints, even with their wizadry of the salary cap, couldn't pay Brees and keep Bridgewater.  They also couldn't put a tender on Bridgewater BTW.

They put a first round tender on Hill so no one was going to break the bank for him and give up a 1st round selection!

Again, I'm going off the opinion of people who cover the Saints regularly, and their word is that Sean Payton believes Hill is a franchise quarterback. There's also some discussion that they might have done better in the playoffs had they let him play more.

Then why not just saw that in any of the other 47 threads about teddy instead of starting a new one for each stat you don’t like?

Because people think what they have to say is so brilliant and what to be the center of attention
