Yeah things are coming into focus. Marty was watching Herbert closely with no other GMs around, virus be damned. Teddy will have his contract front loaded, so he isn't too pricey later when Herbert takes the reigns. That has to be the plan.

As for the deal, I said earlier those numbers make me think he's a bridge quarterback.

I understand the connection between Joe and Teddy.  I just don't understand why our front office thinks Teddy is going to help us achieve the franchise's goal of winning a Super Bowl.  If he's not, then there's no need to sign him.  If we're hoping to win more than we won last year and reach the playoffs every once in a while, then yeah....

IMO, getting players bridge players are, for the most part, only useful if you already have the future of the franchise on your team for that position.

IMO, getting players bridge players are, for the most part, only useful if you already have the future of the franchise on your team for that position.

I think you have to figure that they're not planning on winning the Super Bowl this year, or next year, and maybe not even on being a playoff team.

That's not to say they're tanking, but it is to say they're rebuilding. And the rebuilding process is a long term project.
