Good signing honestly. We're not married to him with the contract after the first year, and he's a fantastic mentor on top of being a good QB.

If you're looking to draft a QB in next year's draft or the following year, you've got the absolute perfect guy for him to come in and learn from.

Yes exactly. This is the move because it makes perfect sense. If we don't do that we're done for 3 seasons. It has to be a QB at 7th now.

Could those pics of Hurney and Herbert have been more ominous than we thought?

I could see Teddy as a stop gap until Herbert got up to speed with the offense. Sit Herbert a season with Teddy as the starter and then let Teddy go at the end of the 2020-2021 season. Depends on the structure of the Teddy's contract I guess. 

Hurney has had success drafting a QB in the 1st after drafting a QB early the previous season.

I hope that is the case. Sadly, it makes no sense to sign a "bridge" QB to a $60,000,00 contract. Trade Cam and start Allen or Grier and allow a rookie to learn while at the same time putting yourself in a position to draft the other building blocks. Instead you sign a QB and allot salary cap space to him, reduce Cam's trade value, and insure that you win a few more games to get you back to mediocrity and reducing the value of later draft choices. THIS WHOLE THING MAKES LITTLE OR NO SENSE. I have never been so upset and disappointed with the Panthers than today.

Ironically, I had accepted that trading Cam was for the best and that a rebuild was desperately needed. Signing Bridgewater makes no sense in that context.

Well, I guess it's consistent with letting arguably the hottest CB in the NFL go for nothing, letting a former NFL defensive MVP go for nothing, letting a former receiving triple crown winner go for nothing, etc, etc, etc....

I think at this point BOA will be empty unless we draft Herbert, and we're right there with a shot at him. No one wants to watch Bridgewater for 3 seasons. Nobody wants that. Chucking the ball out of reach and losing a lot of games. No thanks. Herbert please. That has to be the move.
