A failure to trade Christian McCaffrey will cost us Trevor or Fields

To be honest, anyone who can't "see how we got here" doesn't understand football very well.

Hurney is bad enough on his own, mix in a meddling owner and an green as an apply head coach, and none of this is surprising.

But Tepper is a “Steeler” fan. He has to know what he’ll doing....LOL. That still gets me.

People want to jokingly compare him to Jerry Jones. He has a long way to go to get to that level. He came and burned it to the ground in DAL. Hired the right people and built a dynasty. Then he wanted credit and it was over. But at least Jones was a co-captain on a NC winning CFB team. I’m guessing Teppers next game will be his first.

Tepper was part of the group that wanted Tomlin fired.

More than 50% of NFL teams earnings come from TV/network deals. Memorabilia obviously makes up another chunk of revenue. Despite ticket prices continually rising this isn’t a significant fraction of team earnings. If your argument is to trade CMC because the stadium isn’t full, it doesn’t hold water.

But we both know that’s not why you and others pose this stupid scenario.

my argument is that you don’t win championships with idiotic roster construction. closest i’ve seen to that not being true was coincidentally carolina in 2015 when cam newton dragged a team to the super bowl that had no business being there. making mccaffrey the highest paid player in league history at his position, a position that simply isn’t valuable anymore, is idiotic. it would be less idiotic if we were positioned to win a championship. but we’re not. if we sign him to the deal he’s going to get it is a move that has nothing to do with winning. because there’s no value in it. it runs counter to winning for a team in our position that, again, isn’t winning poo any time soon.

btw you think you’re slick talking about “this doesn’t hold water” as you bypass the post i was responding to and his bullshit “durr 80% of jerseys were mccaffrey jerseys hurr.” if you went to any games you know it’s not true. even if you didn’t you should know. you have an agenda. that’s fine. you probably have one more year, maybe 2, with your precious running back until you can follow him to denver. i want my favorite team to win championships. i don’t give a poo about playing favorites with running backs or punters or backup quarterbacks or mascots, or any of the other value-less positions.

You’re bringing up hypothetical deals that may or may not even happen while simultaneously invalidating that CMC is way more than a RB regardless if that is his “position.”

I bypassed that particular comment because I’ve seen you and a couple of others bring this argument up before and it’s all based on your agenda which is fine but makes you look moronic for you to compare apples to oranges in this never ending rebuild/trade scenarios debate.

Lastly, I think I’ve made myself pretty damn clear on where I stand with the franchise. I was a Cam fan but not before I am a Panther fan. CMC doesn’t get any special treatment in my book either when his time here has ended.

  Noooo...

The starters I was talking about Were the Saints only two picks in the first 5 rounds. Eric McCoy and CG Johnson. We had 6 picks in the same span, And got Burns, Little Grier, Miller and Scarlett and one thrown away.

And the Panthers chose to bring in 8 AAF players instead of UDFAs(only 4). While the Saints found a good rotational DT, an AllPro PR(not that we needed that) and several others who played.

Ok,.. so to clarify,.. we agree that Marty wasted an entire draft,..

the deal is going to happen, he’s going to walk, or we’re going to trade him for lower value at a later date. stupid to think there’s any other outcome short of significant injury.

maybe brady and rhule use mccaffrey differently but no, to date he has not been “way more than a running back.” he has been force fed and it hasn’t resulted in wins. he’s high volume which actually isn’t a good thing at a punishing position with a short shelf life.

you bypassed it because you have an agenda. that’s fine. it’s not my agenda. i have no interest in heavily investing in a running back. since we’re not going to be competitive, i have no interest in allowing him to pile up meaningless numbers for a losing team when we could trade him for future value. but that’s my agenda. not yours. and that’s fine.

Absolutely. Which is basically what was said by a few on here as soon as it was over. But I’m sure things will be fine.

Wait until Marty signs a new two year deal. That should be a fun day.

What’s my agenda since I’m so oblivious to it? Enlighten me, please.

After seeing the Chiefs just win a SB with a journeyman RB and the 49ers make it with a rotation of castoffs, there are really people in this forum that want to pay Mccaffrey an insane contract????

We are truly living in bizzaro world

We've all seen what McCaffrey can do, he can break games open, and will win even the worst team in the NFL to a couple of wins.

You don't think if CMC was on the Bengals last year they eke out 2 extra wins?  There will be a few 200 yard CMC games that we unfortunately win if we don't trade him.

On the other hand, by the time Lawrence is in his 2nd season, CMC will be an old and broken down running back on a maximum salary.

So there's no reason to hang on to CMC.  He costs us draft position this year, and won't be in his prime by the time our new QB is ready.

The only reason to keep him at this point would be to sell tickets and merch.  So this is a test of how bad Tepper wants to win versus make money.

i accept your apology for your ignorance
