Oh there will not be a trade. Make no mistake, Cam is getting cut.

He is still on the team, so I would say it can happen. I wouldn't say it won't just like everyone said there was no way he would not be playing for us this year.

I don't think this means what you think it means since you are in the habit of furiously refreshing the huddle every few minutes looking for a post of mine to reply to.

It's sweet to have a fanclub.

Unfortunately, the move on from Cam has clearly brought all the Cam haters out of the woodworks. Much more unfortunate will be when/if he moves on and has tremendous success at his next stop. That is what is really going to suck. The "I told you so's" are going to be really hollow.

If I'm being honest, I can't see that scenario playing out. I just don't think he's gonna stay healthy enough.

It's sad, but it's not unusual. A lot of "physical specimen" players end their careers on a down note. That's just the nature of the game.

Cam will take 2020 off (if there even IS a 2020 season).  He will get 100% healthy, pass physical upon physical, get stronger than ever (dude is STRONG), and will be the premier free agent 6 months from now.

And he will do nothing else but prove the Panthers wrong the rest of his career.

That’s just how he’s wired.  I hate that we’re giving up on a dude like that, but it is what it is.  Cam is FAR from done at just 30 years old.

(Brady can go 45 and beyond but Cam is done at 30 lol.  Tua was “done” 6 months ago according to many.  Have you seen the shape Cam is in?  ELITE.  Injuries heal after surgery.  Give Cam a year off and then let the haters continue to hate).

Giving up on Cam Newton is a mistake.

I thought he took 2019 off to do all that.

If, as suspected by some, the shoulder is arthritic, the whole "make the Panthers sorry" scenario isn't happening.

Let’s hope it is something for both his and our sakes.  I would hate to see Cam without a starting job.   And we need to get something for him.

Cam is not getting traded quit looking for false hope. You think the Chargers are going to trade for him when nobody else is even entertaining the idea?

It's common sense. Teams will sign him when he is cut. No need to trade draft picks for a guy who is guaranteed to get cut in the near future.

To make a trade you have to have competition, there is no completion for Cam to strike a deal. Understand now?

Cam takes 2020 off he will have been out of playing NFL games for 2 years. He will be out of sight out of mind. No way he sits out 2020. He has to play games if he wants another long term contract.

I disagree but we will find out in a few months.

Dwayne Haskins: Multiple sources have said the Redskins would not be interested in Cam Newton once the Carolina Panthers cut him, or Jameis Winston. Although Rivera drafted and coached Newton in Carolina, the Redskins know if they sign him, he would be coming here to start. And they don't want to put Haskins in a position where he has no shot to compete for the job.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
