Panthers To Allow Cam Newton To Seek Trade

I think, as Mr. Scot says, that move will happen once Teddy passes his physical.

That seems to be what the Panthers want.

If that drags out though, it's not necessarily fair to Newton. It would lessen his chances of being able to get one of the available starting jobs.

If they did do it today, they could conceivably take advantage of the "Friday news dump" option.

Imagine if no team signs Cam as a starter and he refuses to sign on as a backup.

Cam to the XFL next season?

He will be signed, teams are waiting to get the 21M number down enough before jumping in....only the Pats could make a trade for him currently and not piss off their fans.

Can't imagine Cam taking less money to start elsewhere though. He doesn't have much to leverage with, hence my XFL speculation. He'd make less, by far, than he is worth...but it's tape and evidence to show his capability. Granted, the risk for him then is getting hurt in a lesser league and hurting his stock even more.

No chance.  He will be on a roster opening day, even if he isn't the starter.

This likely won't end with Cam being happy, hence me saying were I him, I would be hat in hand, going straight to New England to take pretty much anything that I could to try to be their starter....then go for the bigger contract next offseason.

Honestly hope so. Would love to see him have success. Don't want to see the guy go from on top of the world to just a name.

If the panthers are smart(they’re not) they’ll hang onto cam until somebody’s starter gets hurt in camp or early in the season. He can prove his health and a team is desperate. Most likely they’ll release him tho because this FO is retarded

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
