I always find a way to be excited for an upcoming season. It better come in the draft because as of right now I don't give a single fug about next season.

Drafting linemen (which we need) ain't gonna change that.

I don't think I have ever been completely off board this early in the offseason. On the positive side, I usually arrange my work in the fall around football and I won't bother with that anymore.

Gee I wonder why that was? Was his injuries a direct correlation of literally and figuratively putting his body on the line over and over? Nah can’t be, the team invested heavily in the offensive line consistently to make sure he was protected. Not like the staff mismanaged any injuries either. Hmmmm.

Kinda hard to manage especially last year when he didn't tell them he was hurt too bad to play and costs us two games to start season.

Surely the coaching and training staff would be able to pick up on the fact that he was injured. He could barely even run in those games, to say the organisation was unaware of how bad it was  because Cam said he was fine is absurd.

does cam and bus wanting a 5 year extension change any of your minds?    i'm pretty dumbfounded we offered 2 years.  like wtf?  1 year i could have lived with, and i think would have been fair, 2 years was way more than fair - consider tom brady played out his last year - but 5 years is absolutely ridiculous.  cam didn't get blindsided.  he just didn't get what he wanted and is having a fit

He's having a fit?

My goodness this fanbase is clueless. The man wanted to stay in Carolina, the franchise said no and put him on the trade block. Cam call them out and said it was them who forced this. But he's having a fit?lol

Im kind of happy for Cam, this franchise does not deserve him. The fans are now trying to make Cam the bad guy. This guy was about to stick with us even after all his buddies from 15 left the team. He could have easily demanded out because of the rebuild but nope he said he wanted to be a Panther. The HC went on a Nat'l radio show and all but guaranteed Cam would be back. Only a week later to have the franchise throw him to the side and sign Bridewater out of nowhere. Cam was shitted on point blank. No loyalty in this business. And his former teammates backing him on social media.

But Cam is the bad guy...

nobody guaranteed cam would be back.  you heard what you wanted to hear.  you're excellent at that.   he wanted a 5 year extension (unless that turns out to be false).  he didn't get it and is acting all  kindsa country butt hurt - kinda like you.   i think offering him 2 years was too much.  i could have been ok with a 1 yr extension, but not 2 or 5.   and nobody said he's a bad guy.  just unreasonable and pouty and having a hissy fit for not getting what he wanted.

first i have heard of this....so we offered a 2 yr extension?...that would have given cam 3 more yrs with us at at least $20m a yr (what we paid bridgewater) & likely more than that?

not positive its true.  there's a thread with the report but it could be bs

I've seen way more people saying the team did a sh-tty job handling this than I've seen people blaming Newton.

Whether you agree with it or not, choosing Bridgewater over Newton was a valid option, but the team absolutely dropped the ball in the way they executed it.

Hard to blame Newton for being pissed given the circumstances.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
