Panthers To Allow Cam Newton To Seek Trade

latest tweet seems innocuous

I'd say "thank you" is a pretty clear statement.

Specifically, teams don't often say "thank you" to a player they're keeping.

Mind you, that doesn't necessarily mean anything is imminent, but it could easily be taken that way.

oh, ok.  i read tepper's comments, marty's comments, the org's tweet - and the part about him not being a panther, period, just seemed obvious.

This should come as no surprise to anyone that follows the Carolina Panthers. Cam Newton professed his desire to remain a Panther. New owner David Tepper and new head coach Matt Rhule said all the right things about wanting Newton around, but clearly the allure of shaping an entirely new offense with new offensive coordinator Joe Brady  around a fresh face proved too enticing for them.

He should have been better protected.

The 2015 OL should have been the norm, not the exception. But as long as Rivera was head coach, the primary concentration was always going to be on defense. Newton was expected to be his version of Randall Cunningham.

The 2015 line was an accident that fell into their lap. Oher wasn't even great, just vastly better at pass protection than Bell was and that's all it took.

That whole season was a mistake. You can not look at that roster and think 15-1 Super Bowl team.

But Cam, Luke, Norman, an average OL and Peanut Tillman willed it.

Notice the only offensive mentions were Cam and "average OL". Unfortunately the team never thought it was important to field an "average OL" again.

what is going on here?

This was a protest in Bondi Beach, Australia. 400 protestors literally dug holes and stuck their heads in the sand as a protest to Aussie PM Tony Abbott not including climate change on the agenda for a G20 summit in 2014.

The front 7 was completely dominant that year. Teams were forced to be one-dimensional and our pass rush was able to get to QBs. The fact that our defense could be so good with bum ass safeties and pretty much no healthy corners outside of Norman most of the year was truly impressive.

I thought Oher actually did a good job with pass blocking that year; run blocking not so much. The interior of our oline did a great job with run blocking and allowed our backs and Cam to run for like 5 yards up the middle each play. Unfortunately our idiot OC decided to have Remmers block Von Miller 1-1 the entire Superbowl and it went about as awful as one would expect. That and having whatever bum (was it McClain?) having to cover Emmanuel Sanders because of having no healthy CBs were why we lost.

Cam can still be a Panther for life...

What does that mean anymore? We have a great history but it's not being respected. I was born into Bear fandom before the Panthers existed. Bear fans know misery. Being a Panthers fan since day one living in Charlotte, watching their success and shortfalls I've always had more joy and success than my Bear family. I really wanted someone from the area to buy this team. That's not the reason but the "culture" change from the top looks very reactionary and uncertain.

Why didn't we just draft a QB at 7 instead of signing Teddy Bridgewater for the same thing Cam was making? Sorry, Cam Newton is better than TB with Brady and Rhule. Pissing match? Dave Gettleman style? Players walking out with Gettleman like complaints. Not good. Very sceptical.
