Panthers were open to keeping Newton for 2020 but had no plans to extend his contract, which they knew he would want, according to a source. They like Bridgewater offers starter’s experience and potential seamless transition to a first-round quarterback in 2020 or 2021.

This sounds familiar

i feel OK with this move because the no one really knows what is up with Cams shoulder. The next question is do you take a QB now or wait and see if we are bad enough for sunshine or fields.

Albert Greer said the exact same thing.

You would think the pats and/or bears would be offering a couple of 3rds for Cam.

Breer put his value at two second rounders a few months back.

Now that the team has basically come out and said they're moving on from him, I'd be shocked if we get anything at all.

Thats why I think two 3rds is fair.  Or just one 2nd.  Not really sure what the bears are thinking at this point.  Didnt I read an article somewhere a couple of years ago where bill belichek was just gushing on what type of player cam was/is?  I tried to google but nothing came up.

I wouldnt sign a deal with Teddy until Cam trade is official, If no deal I would keep Cam but he may not want to be here by that time.

Kinda late for that...

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
