It was obvious they were forcing him to trade. They immediately released statements regarding how cam will be in our hearts and put out a tribute on the website before anything else happened like what?

If Cam truly wasnt gonna play without a new deal, then this situation was inevitable. 

The panthers wasnt giving him a new deal...for obvious reasons, and Cam wasn't playing without one.

This was obvious to anyone from the start, people just choose to be naive....I guess it just feels better.

The NFL is a buisness. The faster you understand that the better. As a player you should get your money and keep your heart and loyalty FAR AWAY from the game. If you get caught up in it you will get your feelings hurt

Panthers were open to keeping Newton for 2020 but had no plans to extend his contract, which they knew he would want, according to a source. They like Bridgewater offers starter’s experience and potential seamless transition to a first-round quarterback in 2020 or 2021.

I doubt it.

To be honest with you, I'd say once they started closing in on a deal with Bridgewater, Newton became expendable. It's likely that simple, especially given there were plenty of signs that the team wasn't that committed to Newton anyway.

You can argue the wisdom of the team going that route, but it certainly sounds like that's what ultimately happened.
