In this system, let's see what we have.  I like the size, the athleticism.  He is 25 (until Thursday), high character, etc.  I do not see the amount that was guaranteed--was any of it (they may not know yet)?

Really, really impressed by what I've seen from Stephen Weatherly this season. He's always had length & athleticism, but you can see how Coach Patterson is turning him into a technician, ripping inside or winning with his deadly arm-over move:

Food for thought, the Vikings ran a base 4-3.  Starting to see a trend here if you look at the DE draft prospect contacts thus far.

You pay for expected future performance, not past production---that is how you lose in free agency.  They see something in him---and I think I get it--but I know better than to trash him at this time.

Nice pickup for the Panthers. Weatherly always flashed but was stuck behind Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter in Minnesota. Low risk, potentially high reward signing as he gets a crack at a full-time role.

I hate to say it but these are the type of guys I want to bring in.  I want guys who could outperform their contracts.  I will hold judgement on contract until I see some other ones start to trickle out.  That will be the final determination.

Well, let's keep in mind who is doing the personnel evaluations. Let's just hope for the best. At worst, we aren't married to a bad contract if he doesn't pan out.

Viking with DEs are like the Steelers with WRs, they know how to draft them and improve them. 

Given the draft is DE/edge weak and the panthers have Burns and a couple of ????, I approve.

No herniay bashing on this one.

It looks highly unlikely that the Panthers will re-sign veteran DE Mario Addison, according to league sources. At the start of the free agency period today, several other teams have been aggressive in expressing an interest in signing him.
