REPORT: Panthers will not tank, working more of a mixed reboot than total rebuild.

this right here is the one singular thing above all else ive been afraid of.

It's the textbook rationalizing of bad franchises, it's how you get end up like the dolphins or buccaneers, always going 7-9, picking in the middle of the draft, never good enough to win anything, never bad enough to actually build a super bowl roster. It's a testament that not everybody in the organization is on the same page. There are too many people who need a decent season to keep hanging around.

The team needs to just accept where we are at and start building. The rhetoric earlier in the off season was far more encouraging. This sounds like omen for a Miami dolphins like stint of mediocrity.

It's just a report, I guess, and the fire sale otherwise suggests it may not be true. But the panthers are exactly the organization that would get sucked into the alluring lie of a "partial rebuild."

How we rebooting with limited capspace and letting our 2nd best defensive player walk in FA?

We have to many holes to reboot quite simply.

The offense aside from 1-2 spots on the oline and some 3rd/4th WR options the offense is set for the most part. The defense can be rebuilt over the next 2 seasons and by next year we could be competing for a playoff spot. Quite simply this team isnt nearly as bad and dearth of talent as many of these narrow minded posters have believed it to be.

As long as Cam Newton is on the roster there won't be a need for a rebuild. Those teams you listed have never had a player at the Qb position like we have unless you go all the way back to the 80's. You build around those kind of players and I'm ecstatic that the Panthers made the right choice and stuck with Cam and are FINALLY putting some legit offensive coaching and offensive talent around him. It only took what, 9 years? Look at what Arizona just did for their young Quarterback, they went out and got one of the BEST WRs in the GAME. Imagine if we did that for Cam in his 2nd or 3rd year, instead he got an offensive lineman drafted as his #1 WR. Can't wait to see what Joe Brady and Cam can accomplish together.

Niners 4 years before this season:

5-11

2-14

6-10

4-12

That’s about as bad as it gets, hardly a “reboot.”

Rams before their first playoff year with McVay, all the way back to 2007:

3-13

2-14

1-15

7-9

2-14

7-8-1

7-9

6-10

7-9 (also after this year traded a ton of draft capital up to 1st overall for Goff)

4-12

Bills hovered between 6 and 9 wins for years.

Not really the best comparisons, and they haven’t even really had any success.

You're thinking WAY too much. I'm just referring to the past few years, not since year 2000 or whenever.

'17 Bills, Rams & Niners all sign new HCs. All three began to reboot a little (Jimmy G to '17 Niners, Cooks & Suh to '18 Rams, '18 Bills sign Star & draft Allen), not tank but reboot. All three continue into '18 & '19. Look at them now.

All three have made the playoffs, two have already made the SB.

We still have the players to reboot a bit & succeed. Might ever make a run for SB.

Reboot = good. Tank = :poo:

Personally, I believe yet hate to say this is one of if not the least talented rosters in the NFL? I hope this is a PR related lie. Otherwise, this is going to get ugly real fast.

I think Tepper's earlier  statements were a reference to the need for a rebuild. He was right. Do not chicken out now because that will lead to futility.

The Saints are still better, the Falcons are better and the Bucs night snag Tom Brady... we can call it what we want but 2020 is going to be a rough year for the Panthers.

maybe the season will get cancelled.  idk, just trying to look on the bright side
