Another old friend of ours finds a home, or rather returns to the one they already had.

He has a solid year and gets a 1 year $4.5M deal. Didn’t we offer him a 3 year $24M deal? No wonder why Seth Roberts signed so fast. Marty really does love throwing the money around.

Looks like we are getting a 5th for Vern.  And maybe a 7th for Irvin once his contract comes out.

I can't possibly see them trading him within the division.

Agree - and if they don’t give a crap about trading him to a division rival, that probably means they aren’t too worried about him doing anything on the nfl.

I can't see us possibly trading for a TE.

This.

Brady's offense is going to be 1TE sets.

So thats Thomas, then they'll have his backup.  I doubt we see more than 2 TEs on the roster.

I don't really think Howard is anything special.

He reminds me a bit of Julius Thomas. Physical specimen with a ton of talent but could never fully learn the position.

I don’t know that we as a team or Brady himself are sold on Thomas as the starting TE. I doubt we would trade for a TE but if one that we liked came available for a price we’re comfortable with I don’t see why we wouldn’t try to upgrade on Thomas. The draft seems pretty thin at the position so it’s either roll with Thomas who’s questionable as a starter or go FA/trade. I think it’s unlikely we add a legit TE this year but wouldn’t rule it out.

Rhule seemed pretty high on wanting to work with and see Ian Thomas.  Was actually one of the first players he mentioned,  talking how he recruited him coming out if HS.

Thomas was a raw high upside guy coming into the draft who exceeded expectations year 1.  Dont see them giving up on him.  And wanting to see him him the the offense before pursuing someone else.
