REPORT: Start of the NFL league year will start on time (maybe)

Still kinda stunned no comments about Tannehill.  The first QB domino to fall in FA.  If the Titans didn't get that deal done, a whole host of scenarios would have ensued.   I just know the Titans were the most recent team that had picked up steam in the rumor mill for Tom Brady.  I'm thinking the Chargers or back to the Pats now.  Tua could learn a thing or two from Tom, just say'n.

I am thinking this (All speculation,, mixed in with some trade follow-up)

  • Brady back to daddy in NE (Brady, Bill B., Boston--too many B's for TB not to Bee back)
  • Tanneyhill to Tennessee (Psychic powers strong on this one)
  • Rivers to Chicago ( A one year deal where the NC State QB pushes the UNC QB.  This prediction does not feel right, but the dominoes have fallen)
  • Bridgewater to Tampa Bay ( TB in TB is not To Be--While the Chargers are in play here, so is every team in the market--Tampa Bay will not get Brady, so they will go hard after the consolation prize; I thought about Indy here as well--however, they have a serviceable QB and pick #13 in the draft; Love could float into their trading range)
  • Mariota to LV Raiders (Gruden not driving Carr to Vegas without a spare)
  • Cam to LA Chargers (I just can't get behind the idea that the Panthers are going to stay with him next year--they could, it makes sense---but playing him in 2020 means you lose the value of trading him afterwards.  You might get a comp pick, but he might get injured again and you get nothing.  Besides, the difference between a first rounder and a late third rounder is huge.  So assuming we trade Cam, Panthers flip flop the 2020 first round picks, get their 2nd rounds in 2020 and 2021. The sixth overall pick keeps Herbert and Love in play--making #6 a valuable slot to take Herbert or trade back. Now Marty's trip to watch Herbert at his pro day makes more sense.  It is my opinion, based on the Okung/Turner trade, that the two teams have been in communications about Cam and the trade was a side effect).
  • Teams still looking for an answer at QB
    • Carolina
    • Chicago
    • Indianapolis
    • New England (after 2020)
    • Jacksonville (Minshaw?  I do not see it)
  • Teams that MIGHT be looking for a QB this year
    • Minnesota (Is Cousins the answer?)
    • Detroit (Stafford will be 33  in 2021 and has not won there; his contract is through 2022, but they can get out with $6m in dead cap money after 2021)
    • Washington (With the #2 overall pick, can RR decide that Haskins is the answer?  He has to be eyeballing Tua a bit, knowing that he has 2 years before his job is on the line again)
    • Pittsburgh (Big Ben--more B's--is probably on his last leg)
    • Green Bay (Hear me out--Rogers is 36 and he could be cut after 2022--can you name his backup?  I cannot.  This would be a great spot for one of those unheralded, late round QBs that need 2 years to develop)

Draft shocker?:  With a talent like Tua on the board, it is going to be hard for teams like Washington and Detroit to pass on him.  Washington should either take Tua or Young--that isn't hard, but Detroit will get trade offers---they should trade back--unless they want Tua to groom behind Stafford for one season.  I think Tua will go in the #3 spot, regardless of who is picking there (I predict Miami trades up--Fitz is under contract for another year--and they draft his replacement in 2021).  If Washington takes Tua, however, it is going to shake everything up; We could see 5 first round QBs taken.
