I feel very lonely as someone not wanting a top 10 DT.....

Do you want a DT at 7, or even in the top 14 if we traded back?

I just really want to be able to stop the run again.. How ever we get their is okay with me..

Samford University did a linear regression analysis on the most important statistical categories in terms of winning football games during the 2018 NFL season. To say I'm surprised by the results is an understatement. Run defenders are generally far less valued than pass rushers and coverage DBs and QBs are by far the highest paid position in football, but based on statistical analysis (granted, based on only one season of data) that's completely backassward. If Tepper is as analytically driven as he claims to be, you can just go ahead and get Derrick Brown's jersey ready if he's on the board at #7.

Now we can draw some conclusions from our linear regression analysis and the statistical evidence it provides.  The least important aspect of the game from the 2018 season, in terms of leading to wins, was defensive pass yards allowed per game, where we found no correlation.  It was then followed by offensive pass yards per game and offensive rush yards per game, both of which had moderate positive correlations.  Lastly, the most important aspect, and convincing statistic, to winning games in the NFL last season was defensive rush yards allowed per game.

That's a great study.. Coming from a fans point of view.. Watching a team consistently marched down the field  running it down your throat.. Is deflating and completely crushing when trying to cheer your team on... Getting air bombed is hurtful but you still get the excitement of maybe a TO happening from a sack or INT and it atleast doesn't kill the time on the game..

So the science backs what Gettleman has said for years. What a world.

The way I see it is like this.

The trenches need to get younger and meaner. Depending on  how the board shakes up...He could be the best option to help this team be competitive next year. Unless something crazy happens and a top 3 talent drops down to us, He's a solid choice. You can never go wrong going Dline in the first. At least that has been Marty's Forte with the track record of Dlinemen he's drafted.

90% of the time I don't care about position, just get the best player.  Always remember the old philosophy of not taking a Guard Top 10, etc.....yeah I'd happily trade #7 for Quenton Nelson.  If the player is good and worth the pick, give him to me, position be damned.

The only way an OG is worth a top 10 pick IMO is if he's allowed to play from behind the wheel of the meat wagon and literally just run over the opposing DL.

#7a Brown

#7b Okunda

#7c Trade down

Guys if you wonder why OT is not at the top of my list, it not because there's a lack of need there, it's because the value isn't there.   Has anyone noticed the evolution of OT rankings since December/January?  It's been like throwing mud at the wall.  The only consistency has been the inconsistency.  Furthermore, there is not a franchise LT in this draft.  Wanting it so doesn't make it so.

Initially Thomas was tops of most OT rankings, then Wirfs, then Wills and now Becton simply because of his combine performance.  I'll let you in on a secret, if a majority of folks isn't sold on any one of these guys, then none of them are worth pick #7.

I can tell you something else, Brown and Okunda have sat atop of the respective positional boards since the college season ended....even during the season, frankly.
