Rosario out of Oregon

No need for craziness. :D

Yea lets just hope he is ready for gameday.

peppers at fullback

Now I was thinking the same thing..... He can also catch the football as well. The thing is we would have to hear all game #90 eligible down field, #90 eligible down field.

There's more to blocking than being a big mass on a charge though. There's leverage, knowing where to be at what time is the right time, and being quick enough to adjust to a rushing DE or DB coming for your QB.

Not knocking on your idea here, but could Bernadeau honestly keep up? We do have a true FB waiting in the wings here named Fiametta. He's a rook, and will make some mistakes, but gametime is how he gets that valuable experience he needs to become better. I'd be surprised should he not get the start this week if Hoov can't go.... very, very surprised.

fiammetta missed practice today because of a concussion he got last week that knocked him out of the game.

not sure if he is going to be able to go but even if he is, i don't trust him yet.

of course this could be the moment that he shows what he will be able to do for us in the future and we will probably need him after this year as a starter (with hoover getting beat up so much, retiring might be inevitable.)

I think Bernadeau could keep up, sure. Blocking as a fullback is not much different than what a guard already does. I played guard in college and am fairly familiar with the position. Running routes and catching, different story. But we don't ask Hoover to do that anyway. Our gameplan against NO should be run, run, run. Bernadeau would be a great option as a lead blocker.

How is a guard who's main goal is holding the line of scrimmage even close to the same as a guy that runs from 2 yards behind the line and tries to clear out the second level. You are forgetting stamina that extra 2 yards every play adds up quick for a guy that big. Not to mention being big (at least wide) actual would hinder his performance because of how quickly the wholes close up and with his size it could cause the RB to have to completely stop. That is usually a good way to end a run in the backfield (unless your name is Dwill).

Its an interesting theory but just that I doubt it would work in practice. I can pretty much assure you one of the TE's will be playing if Hoov and Tony can't go. I really think unless Sutton can play FB he should be gone and a FB be brought in.

sutton's smaller than williams.

i can see getting rid of him and adding another FB, though.

if hoover comes back and is healthy and we somehow can get neal...can you imagine what that running game would look like?

That's what I was getting at. Sutton was brought in to be a backup Goodson type player because, or at least it was the only reason I could conceive of picking him up, we were going to use him in a lot of ways (like in the preseason) and needed insurace. And look how much Goodson is featured. IMO he is and was a waste of a roster spot.

You talking about Lorenzo Neal, is he still playing? He was a damn good blocking FB that was always underestimated. I would love that. Hoov would retire if that happen methinks.

i'm thinking neal would still like to play. he was released by the raiders for some stupid reason but then it's the raiders.

i couldn't see hoover retiring cause of neal, though. neal is 39 years old i think.

i'm thinking that he and hoover would be the best teachers fiammetta could ever have, though.

Hoov has probably been playing with alot of pain because of the back problems. Take it from me my Dad had 8 back surgeries and has had a bad back for 20 years. I am pretty sure he was going to retire if Tony paned out. If they get Neal to take over now and teach Tony then Hoov can get some much needed downtime and probably wont be back. This is assuming Tony does pan out (personally for our O I think Sotherland was the better fit and he was UDFA BTW he is available).
