Europe realizing that keeping the old folks isolated would have been the best idea from the beginning.

We talked about this about 400 pages ago.  Hindsight will always tell you what is best

Most of the world still using available therapeutics while Americans are told to wear a mask and cross your fingers until a vaccine is developed.

America is totally doomed.  We are reactionary, gullible, and ill informed.  Our media outlets are bought and paid for.  Everyone is looking for the most sensational story and someone to blame.  Election year only makes it worse.  Anyway, thought about numbers this morning and started looking at top 15s.

Population                    Cases                          Deaths                   Deaths per Million

CA                                   CA                                 NY                                   NJ

TX                                    NY                                NJ                                   NY

FL                                     FL                                 MA                                  CT

NY                                   TX                                 CA                                    MA

PA                                   NJ                                 Ill                                      RI

Ill                                     Ill                                   PA                                    DC

OH                                  GA                                 MI                                     LA

GA                                   AZ                                 FL                                     MI

NC                                    MA                               TX                                    Ill

MI                                    PA                                 CT                                     DE

NJ                                    NC                                LA                                     MD

VA                                   LA                                  GA                                    PA

WA                                  TN                                  MD                                   MS

AZ                                   MI                                  OH                                    AZ

MA                                  VA                                  AZ                                     IN

I think Deaths per million is probably the best barometer with how states are handling the virus.  Several states stand out in good and bad ways.

Bad are everyone listed on the Deaths per million as they are all above the average per state except for AZ and IN.  Some like TX, CA, NC are doing well.  I know you have to keep it in perspective as it will change going forward.  TX, CA, AZ and FL numbers are moving them up each day, but a long way to go to get as bad as the top 5 when looking at a percentage of population.

Please get some football pics and stuff going soon.

What are you talking about? There are no therapeutics proven more than anecdotally effective, though things like dexamethasone and corticosteroids absolutely are utilized in attempt to counteract severe inflammatory reaction, and the many things in global trials are as much in the US as elsewhere. Trying a bunch of stuff off-label to see if anything sticks can be as detrimental to the patient as no treatment at all.

Masks have NOT proven to be effective, just look at the results. The rest of the world has gone to so much trouble wearing masks and the US hasn't but it hasn't changed anything. Sure, America has more cases, but that's only because it's a huge country with more people.

When you look at cases PER CAPITA the only countries doing better than the US are Laos, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Myanmar, Tanzania, Cambodia, Timor, Taiwan, Uganda, Angola, Burundi, Fiji, Syria, Niger, Thailand, Mozambique, Burkina Faso, Yemen, Chad, China, Eritrea, New Caledonia, Mongolia, Gambia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, Ethiopia, Jordan, Bhutan, Tunisia, Belize, Mali, Sri Lanka, Saint Lucia, Rwanda, Benin, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Curacao, Malawi, Nigeria, Somalia, Anguilla, South Sudan, Grenada, Zambia, Cuba, Sierra Leone, French Polynesia, Liberia, Japan, Greenland, Dominica, New Zealand, Sudan, British Virgin Islands, Mauritius, Malaysia, South Korea, Jamaica, Georgia, Botswana, Kenya, Madagascar, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Brunei, Uruguay, Indonesia, Libya, Barbados, Slovakia, Comoros, Greece, Bonaire Sint Eustatius and Saba, Guyana, Hungary, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Lebanon, Venezuela, Morocco, Nicaragua, Guinea, Australia, Congo, Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, Uzbekistan, Paraguay, Algeria, Cameroon, Nepal, Haiti, Namibia, Latvia, Northern Mariana Islands, Philippines, Lithuania, Tajikistan, Bahamas, Antigua and Barbuda, Egypt, Afghanistan, Central African Republic, India, Slovenia, Guinea-Bissau, Ghana, Aruba, Poland, Croatia, Seychelles, Cyprus, Pakistan, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Bangladesh, Finland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Estonia, Malta, Albania, Norway, Swaziland, Guam, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Sint Maarten, Romania, Suriname, Austria, Liechtenstein, Denmark, Turks and Caicos Islands, Montserrat, Guatemala, Palestine, Germany, Bermuda, Iraq, Turkey, Costa Rica, France, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azerbaijan, Mexico, Monaco, Canada, Netherlands, Cayman Islands, Gabon, Argentina, Jersey, Serbia, United States Virgin Islands, Iran, Kosovo, Falkland Islands, Guernsey, Honduras, Faeroe Islands, Sao Tome and Principe, Switzerland, Isle of Man, Cape Verde, Italy, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, United Kingdom, Ecuador, Colombia, Macedonia, Kyrgyzstan, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Djibouti, Ireland, Iceland, Dominican Republic, Gibraltar, Russia, Moldova, Belgium, Bolivia, Maldives, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Belarus, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Singapore, Luxembourg, Brazil, Peru and Andorra.

Separation is the key.

We talked early early on about keeping people away from virus.  But, we did not, in fact, we did the unthinkable and placed infected people into rest homes.

Now we argue about "our rights" and try to shame others, placing blame is very childish and not participating in mitigation is the same.

Look at Vietnam, they are back to normal because the did both.  If you were found positive, you were not trusted to "self isolate".  You were shipped out of town to an army base.  Not living in a communist country is great "until" you have our political system and you try to herd all the cats in one direction.

Germany is another good example.  They absolutely did things like lock down rest homes, and even isolate the workers there.  Sometimes paying them increased pay for the isolation.  The rest of the country used common sense and mitigation measures.

What makes us strong makes us weak.  A smart US would understand that we are all one, but have different opinions and states have certain rights.  Why not have certain states use the options applied in Germany and HK for instance, especially CA, AZ and FL where the elderly populations are huge.  We have unique opportunities with 50 states (incubators if you will) to try different methods.  As some states get better results, other states will follow. Primarily, protect the vulnerable and let the rest of society live with safe measures in place.

But not here.  We have pols that want to make as much gain or minimize political loss.  The worst thing is that the people follow.  Trump talks like such a child, but has seemed to give license to other children as they all are name calling embarrassments.  All self serving.

We seem to yell disparaging remarks at people that don't act like our particular political persuasion says they should.  Like brainless drones.

And, its an election year.  I can't find many pols I respect.  Trump? Cuomo?  Pelosi?  Give me a break.  Biden is lucky not to have any responsibilities at the moment.   When you ask, "which governor to you think handled it well", the answers and reasoning are astounding.

Screwed we are.

    • Best to see Icky in the position we drafted him in to see if he continues making progress. All signs point to Canales/Morgan staying on board and so decisions on whether to move him elsewhere on the line will probably be done during the offseason. Personally, I'm more concerned about a more long-term answer at safety and Moton's spot. Love the guy but he's a FA after 2026 and he'll be 32 by then. Kinda has that sign of having to let a player walk one year too early.
    • All I am saying is IMO if we were going to rework or extend his deal I think it would have happened by now.   Just feels like they are going to bite the bullet and let it run its course
    • I mean me speaking honestly per normal- RT is not even on my radar for needing fixing....it sorta should be, but I feel its around 20s in "hey this need attention". Motown could have another 5 years of solid play leftd in his body and mind. I know something needs to done with his contract, its had money pushed back into the late years like three times now. He got like a 38 million cap number cause rhule, frittterererer and this past season Dan deferred money.  I think he's been "healthy" for most of his career and seems to work hard at being able to play. He's a good player to have on the team. I got no idea how this plays out.   We need to have friendly bet about Christs next contract- I say he gets 8million per and 40% guaranteed. If he gets below that, you are the true kungfu master- deal?
