When "science" changes every week or so, then people lose confidence.

Garbage. Fauci initially said save the masks for front line workers because there was concern in the community that supplies would run out. And in early April they literally did. Fauci has explained this many times. It was good will advice. The message can't be more clear. Where a mask, stay inside, wash your hands. If you are really still confused about what the message from "science" is then you are a dolt. Shut the the hell up.

You realize there is actual data STRONGLY suggesting that mask wearing is effective in real world situations, right? So, what are these mental gymanstics truly about?

Honestly, I realize that I may need to switch tactics here...

All I'm saying is that the mask can be just a much as a negative as a positive if you are frequently touching your face to adjust the mask.

Not according to actual data. The data is trending more and more toward respiratory transmission and more and more away from touch transmission. Touch transmission is likely possible, but it's looking more and more like respiratory transmission is the dominant method of transmission.

One note of the wearing mask crowd.  It can actually be a detriment if you aren't washing your hands.  This is a respiratory illness, so let's say you get on an elevator or touch your hands on anything that coronavirus could live on.  And, then without washing your hands, you adjust your mask touching your nose and face.  You've just increased your risk of catching the coronavirus by touching your face, thus offsetting what benefit the mask was supposed to do.

The key is to:

Wear a mask

&

Don't touch your face, mask without washing your hands

How many people will do both things?  Such a small percentage that it's inconsequential.

For the 1000th time. Masks do more to keep the infected from spreading Covid than it does to keep the healthy from contracting the virus. Since spreaders can be asymptomatic, everyone needs to wear it.

Why is this such a problem?

Btw..Walmart now requires them. Prepare for the riots.

60+?  Really?  I think I may have had maybe two teachers (in grade school) even pushing that demographic.  Most were in their 30's and 40's.  I had more teachers in their 20's than in their 50's.

The higher risk category starts in the early 40s.  And it goes up with health factors, including obesity.  How many chubby teachers did you have?  How many teachers in their 40s or older did you have?  I think when you combine the two, you will see a ton of them.

And the sheer number doesnt matter as much as the fact that every school has them.  So once a handful or more of them get it...now what?  And again, you also have to account for the administration staff as well.  Lots and lots of them are in the higher risk category as well.

How is this different than many other occupations?  Most office buildings have their share of overweight, middle-aged people.  Now we are setting different standards based on occupation?

Not sure where you  live but the majority do both in places with educated populations.

When "science" changes every week or so, then people lose confidence.  Maybe they should call it research at this point.  Shaming people who followed 4 rabbit trails because they are not willing to follow the current trail, gets a bit tiresome, but again, go ahead, there's nothing better to do currently.  Fauci lost a lot of them by saying, meh to masks, then a couple months later admitting that he was basically lying to Americans.  So the trust factor is not going to sit well with most people who have the attention span of a gnat.

do you have any idea why fauci had to try and conserve masks for health care workers? do you have any idea why we didn't start production or stockpiling in january?   i'll give you a guess.   science doesn't change every week.  new information is added every second to science. that's what makes it great.  i don't think you know what the word actually means

Eh, there's a large percentage of people who don't even wash their hands after using the restroom(https://www.theroot.com/yall-nasty-cdc-confirms-people-arent-washing-their-han-1829921439) so how can one assume people are washing their hands after pumping gas, touching a public doorknob, or pressing buttons on some credit terminal?

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
