And here we go with the ole Huddle "you don't understand"  fall back argument. Yes, I know what semantics means, however, I would say to you that the average person takes prevention as a literal meaning to STOP.  So no, I don't think you chose that word by accident.  Mask do not stop the spread, it reduces the spread.  It's not really a tom-A-to; tom-a-to thing.  Even when I do go out with a mask, I still know there's a very real chance I may catch it and that mask isn't preventing crap.

I really hope you're being intentually dense. Because these arguments you're making are just laughable. I don't think anyone thinks the word "prevent" implies 100% efficacy. Good grief, man.

And less deaths in the entire state of Florida than NYC alone.

It's amazing the number of outlets where you can easily find accumulative case counts and number of deaths, but you have to really dig to find the number of recovered cases.    Secondly, you would think total case count (while important) would be secondary to the active case count.  But, you know, that doesn't drive headlines and fear mongering.

Lol so you engage in sensationalism nonsense using the total death count of NYC vs. Florida instead of recent trends and then 2 posts later cry about the media being sensationalist by using the total cases instead of active ones. Way to drive some headlines there...sounds like you might have a future in mainstream media after all.

Is it possible for you to restate this?  It didn't make sense to me.

Don't mind him, he's likely busy removing the seatbelts and air bags from his vehicle since they're useless due to the fact that they aren't 100% effective in the prevention of death or serious injury in the event of a crash.

Yet I was an dense one for the silver bullet satirical statement.  At least we are on the same level on now.

He was engaging in pretzel logic and managed to get himself all twisted up.  He may restate it after he figures out how to untangle himself.   Apply WD-40 and a shoe horn. :shades:

Someone said Florida has more recent cases than all of Europe.  His reply was pointing out that NYC has had more deaths to date than the entire state of Florida.  While factually true...that's clearly sensationalism, not reflective of the trajectories of NYC vs. Florida, which are trending in complete opposite directions.  Then he goes on to complain that the media emphasizes TOTAL cases rather than ACTIVE cases, because they are so sensationalist and just want headlines.  He's doing the exact same thing cause it supports his agenda.

*Active cases are way more relevant than total cases*...just like *CURRENT death rates are way more relevant than TOTAL deaths*.  Hint: Florida has had more than twice as many deaths as NYC in the past week, and the gap between the two is only going to continue to grow.

WD-40 and shoehorns? Not 100% effective. Useless.

Lol! I never said useless, but please continue...  Dude I have been around the block a time or two and whether you meant to or not, people that are activists for something (which you strongly feel about masks) overplay the word game to heighten the importance of their cause.  Yes, mask wearing slows the spread of the virus, but that is all it does is slows down the transmission rate from person-to-person.  Throw any other descriptive word in there you want, but that's the reality of it.   Stopping, preventing, halting...whatever is overstated.

So what you are saying is that Florida should have completely screwed the pooch right out of the gates like New York, that way the current numbers would be down instead of up?  That's the point you were making?

If me explaining your logic doesn't make sense to you, then that's an indictment on your logic bro lol.  But sure, wear it proudly like a badge of honor!
