Next 2-3 weeks will tell the story really on how the rest of the year plays out IMO.

Just curious what you mean by this. Because of the protests, summer gatherings, states opening up, or all the above?

next 2-3 weeks will likely show what the increase in numbers really means and how it will impact things going forward.

we have a clear cut rise in numbers in a lot of places.  that alone isn't actually a bad thing.   We were doing bad and little testing.  People can finally get testing.     Which is good.   South Carolina is perfect example of this increase in COVID.  Record breaking nearly every other day for the last 1-2 weeks.   But testing is finally relatively easy to get vs prior months.

So in the next 2-3 weeks could show that we simply are widely testing now.  High COVID numbers but no signification increase in hospitalization or deaths.  Or the next 2-3 weeks will show a real increase in hospitalization and death.   If the next few weeks show increased hospitalization and death? Well, that is going to most likely greatly impact us backwards.  If we get high COVID numbers and no real increase in death and hospitalization in the upcoming weeks...that will be good.  We can continue the march to some sort of normalcy.

So again, if you get it and are destined to die, how long is the normal time for this to occur?  I know it is probably hard to get numbers at this point as they are constantly changing, but I still am reading about the virus losing its punch.  If twice as many people are getting it and the death numbers continue to go down.........

So, basically, we don't know.  It might, it could be, etc, etc and if numbers don't support, then "it could be something deadly years from now".  This is the reason people are not paying attention.  Definitive information is hard to find and people are hard pressed to follow fear only without certain facts

We don't know, so... LEEEEEEROY JEEEEEEEENKINS!!! it is, right?

Damn, society is dumb.

Starting to open back up is fine IMO. People refusing to wear masks or do even the most basic of prevention measures is really dumb and reckless though. Doing so as a political statement is the pinnacle of stupidity. There should be monuments built to commemorate such levels of stupidity being achieved.

Well said. We keep hearing that hospitalizations are going up, but it's still less than 1000 people in the entire state. In a state of 10.5 million people, that is a drop in the bucket for a virus that has been here for 3 months.

I think Cooper has been wanting to do this for a long time but knew the legislature would just pass a law reversing his order. Hopefully, he has enough cover to do it now.

I’m not sure what ‘teeth’ would come in his order, but hopefully they add mask requirements to the building occupancy code.

Ive been to a few businesses here in clt that require masks, and I’ve enjoyed watching idiots be turned away and kicked out.

Easiest way to make this work is to require businesses to pay a fine if they aren't requiring masks and are proven to be a hot zone for the spread. It's much easier for business to police themselves than for state police to do it.

I don't want a fine so you put on a mask.
