Wow. To put this into perspective: NYC's death toll is 10x LA County's.

I am wanting to know, if there is 23.5 Million unemployed, if 1% of them died to to homelessness, depression from losing home, lifestyle etc. Would that not be more deaths than the Coronavirus?

We have 82,000 COVID deaths in a little over 2 months.   

We have no clue what the actual COVID death toll will be.    Second wave easily could be worse than this one (and we aren't through the first wave).   

You can do the math of 1% of 23.5 but there is no actual number to compare it to.   Can compare it to projections.  But projections evolve as the COVID problem evolves.   

Not sure I have seen a lot of projections that really take us past August.  Those generally seem to be in the 180k range.  But we still have the additional fall/winter to factor into those 2020 numbers.  And I don't think they can project that window right now.

This headline doesn't quite match up with the article. LA County is slow-rolling reopening like lots of places. But this headline makes it sound like stay at home keeps everything closed through summer. The text of the article doesn't seem to jive with that.

Up to 100 cases in NY state now of this mysterious inflammatory childrens disease (is it Kawasaki? Is it not?) now. Most cases show they either have Covid or have antibodies.

I don't think there is a real appetite for any more assistance to the public in congress.  Right now all they are doing is playing games for political points, but have no real desire to get something passed.  Its pretty typical stuff.  Come up with something that sounds good, then throw some poison pills in so it doesn't pass.  Then go running to the nearest microphone to talk about the other side being evil.

Very true. In this case though, I think it makes more sense to put that money in unemployment than to just send checks to everyone. The money will go farther.
