Edit: Kyle Allen extended for 1 year

Again, for all of you who think an undrafted free agent kid should be mocked for throwing interceptions during a dumpster fire of a season.

In his rookie season (this was Allen's second year), Elway completed below 50% of his passes.  Bradshaw completed 38% of his passes.  Manning threw more interceptions than Allen did.  Note that this compares an undrafted rookie to the first overall pick in their respective drafts.  And you mock Allen.

They all had programs built around them that eventually, gave each Super Bowl rings and Yellow jackets.

Just say "it was a bad situation for any QB" and let it go--instead of trashing someone because you think you know football.

Imagine shitting on one of the best players to ever suit up for the franchise in favor of a Jimmy Clausen clone.

You deserve nothing but mediocrity.

Still comparing him to hall of famers, and making excuses for his turnovers.

Yet Cam Newton is forever 0-8.

Standards change quickly around here. You old timers can't even disguise your ignorance.

kyle allen is unquestionably the greatest quarterback to ever don a panthers uniform

Nobody is saying that, but we are saying that he is not as bad as everyone paints him to be--any great QB would have struggled last year--the defense is the main problem--not the OL.   When we started giving up 5.2 yards per carry and could not stop the other offense, it put Allen in a one-dimensional situation--behind an OL that was not good at protecting the QB---especially everyone from center to blind side T.

Nobody wins in that situation.  Period.

Just stop replying to my posts--they were not hall of famers when they were throwing 38% completions.  People stayed with them and built around them--why is that beyond your ability to comprehend?  Just another example of how you miss most every point made above a third grade level.  You calling someone ignorant.  That is rich.

So you'll apply this logic for Kyle Allen, but not for a league MVP?

That's called a double standard bud.

What about that can't you comprehend?

but he gets wayyyyyy too much crap on here...from a particular contingent of the fanbase for very transparent reasons.

Don't tiptoe around your claim. Speak on it. Expound on those thoughts and tell us what specifically makes you think that. Tell us what you mean. I think I already have a rough idea, but it will get this thread sent to the tbox. We both know you'll slink away though.

Why are you so easily triggered?  I thought my premise was pretty obvious...but if you really have trouble following along, then here you go:

There is clearly a sizable percentage of this board who are more of Cam Newton fans than Carolina Panthers fans (not exactly a novel proposal) and their rabid loyalty causes them to gang up on anyone or anything that they perceive as a threat - whether that be to his position as our starting QB, his perception in the media, his perception among the fanbase, etc.  Just because some talking heads in the media and a small number of posters on here (some certainly with highly questionable motivations) were perpetuating the idea that considerations should be made towards Allen becoming the starter after his brief win streak earlier in the season, this contingent of hardcore Cam loyalists began to pile on Kyle Allen out of some petty retaliatory motives.  Please tell me what part of that supposition was Tinderbox-worthy.

Is Cam the victim of a lot of ignorant vitriol, much of it racially-motivated?  Yes, obviously...but that is already well-documented and news flash: racists are racist and cannot be reasoned with.  I do also have issue with the posters who operate under the guise of virtue and social justice and then unironically engage in the same racially-charged rhetoric, talking about the "F-150 crowd" or whatever for example.

Let me ask you this: when Kyle Allen throws a 50-yard TD to DJ Moore, and the impulsive reaction from certain posters is "LOL HE STILL UNDERTHREW IT!!!" instead of celebrating the TD like a Carolina Panthers fan, do you think perhaps there are any ulterior motives in play?  Yes or no?

Anything else you need further clarification on?

This is bullshit. 100%.

I can unequivocally state that even me, who is described as the biggest Cam homer on this board, was ready to hand Allen the keys to the position if he had proven himself to be the guy. The wheels fell off for a number of reasons, not all of which was obviously his fault, but he was the one holding the football, and he was the one turning the ball over. Fair or not that is the reality. As an undrafted quarterback he is going to receive less leeway than a highly touted prospect drafted high. Cam isn't getting any free lunches around here for anything he did in the past, and he started his career smashing records, so why would we make excuses for our other quarterbacks if they aren't getting the job done?
