To be fair, Rhule was referring to Grier's play while at West Virginia.  I'm pretty sure he's not of the same opinion now if he's seen last year's tape.

Again, that's the wild card.

Do the coaches see a young player underperforming and say "he's crap" or do they say "with my coaching, he can be a star"?

We don't know.

Heck, there were coaches who thought they could make Terrell Owens and Antonio Brown behave themselves.

Not going so much off of his words as speculation from Insiders. Mind you, that could be wrong too.

It's basically one of those "back of my mind" things.

You mean the insider info that changes from one day to the next.  Got to admit, anytime I see the word "insider" these days, I roll my eyes a bit.

There are people I take more seriously than others based on track record, but it is legitimately a difficult job because so much of what you hear is fluid.

That's why I keep things in the back of my head the same way my dad kept every little item in the house because he "might need it later".

Rhule has been said to like Grier in part because of his stellar performance against Baylor two years ago.

And of course, there are always coaches who see a player underperforming and think "if we just work with that guy, he could be a lot better".

Like I've been saying, Rhule is a real wild card right now.  You might as well call the Psychic Friends Network (if they've come out of bankruptcy yet).

i don't get this.  he said nice things about grier before that game as any coach would and should.  that's really it.   pre-game fluff.  i've never heard a coach say 'well their qb sucks so that's good'

98% chance Allen is on the opening day roster as a QB.  0% chance he is the starter.

Rookies throw INT's.  Peyton threw 43 in his first 2 seasons.

Allen is a serviceable backup who has shown he can help the team get a win.  No need to invest any more time or energy into the backup QB position.

Cam will be your starter.
