Injuries happen, busts happen, legal issues happen, and so on. With so much that can go wrong with an individual player coming out of college, it makes much more sense to mitigate that risk by acquiring *more* of these unknowns, not less. And especially so when you're basically starting fresh with so much uncertainty throughout the roster.

If we trade up for *anyone* I'll be really disappointed.

Kinda like what we did with our entire draft last season?(I love Burns but moving to a 4-3 isnt a good move for his future)

Your OP is silly and doesn't really warrant discussion. Nobody thinks it is realistic or a good idea. Not sure what you were expecting.

And why are you bringing up politics? Nobody else is.

It's not silly at all and the discussion is warrented... If trading up for burrow has been discussed then why NOT the best player in the draft. Being conservative is a mindset not a politic. It's the whole being cheap and not taking risk approach that has been our mindset all through the richardson years... Much the same of the majority of the huddle.

Warranted. We've discussed it as much as it deserves. Your idea isn't as clever as you think it is.

Who said it is cleaver? I haven't seen a thread discussing it so I made one. Your retort isn't cleaver at all, in fact you dont seem very happy. Who are you to say how much something deserves, you don't like it you dont have to agree, but you don't get to say how much or how little something deserves. if the GM of a team picking much lower than us is discussing it why shouldn't we?

How does drafting a defensive end take us out of anything lol the whole point of tanking IS to get Lawrence a qb NEXT year...

Im going to try to explain this to you the best way I can...

YOU'RE NOT GETTING A FRANCHISE QB IN NEXT YEARS DRAFT BECAUSE IT WOULD TAKE A FUTURE 1ST ROUND PICK NEXT YEAR TO MOVE UP TO THE #2 SPOT AND DRAFT YOUNG.

I hope you understand now how moving up and drafting Young kills our chances next year for a franchise qb. Thank you for listening.

THE WHOLE POINT OF TANKING IS NOT TO HAVE TO TRADE UP NEXT SEASON BUT SUCK ENOUGH TO ALREADY BE THERE. THATS THE POINT OF TANKING. I HOPE I MADE THIS CLEAR.

Clever. Nobody agrees with you because it is a really dumb idea. Have a nice day.

So how are we getting Chase Young with the #7 pick? I'll wait...

https://www.footballguys.com/pickvalue.htm depending on what site or how you evaluate it, plug in our 7th 38 and 69 and we over paid. so it really depends on what site you visit. But I see no reason it realistically couldn't be done for 7,38, and maybe next years 2 at worse.
