No paper today

I remember as a kid I used to deliver newspapers.  We had a morning paper AND an evening paper.  Its weird thinking back on, and something that's going to blow my daughters mind when I tell her.  But first I'm gonna have to explain to her what a newspaper is.

For the first time, the Charlotte Observer will not have a Saturday printed edition today. Internet is killing them. I'm old, love to read a newspaper

I always liked getting the paper especially on Sunday. Big cup of coffee and some toast and just crawl into the news. Stuart with the funnies, comb through sports, classifieds, arts section.

Dropped it five years ago as it just wasn't getting read.

McClatchy owns the CO and also the Raleigh News and Observer. You know what is also killing newspapers? Read up on any of the biased, anti UNC conspiracy peddling witch hunt that the garbage N&O has spewed out about UNC the past 10 years. People have too many options now and won’t waste their time reading crap.

I don't get how newspapers and magazines are still in business. Books, that's fine. They should always be around.

In 2011 my company did a large expansion onto a newspaper building.  When they came to us with plans to expand we were like "WTF?"

I don't get it either.  At this point I have to assume that both magazine and newspapers are living off of commercial customers who put them out for their guests.

Actually a good idea. But, be careful when flushing, it doesn't break down like TP.

Yeah, it would only be used as a last resort.  I am really not thrilled with wiping my behind with inked up paper.  :)

In truth, we are in decent shape.  My wife always buys in bulk, and she had just finished a shopping run, so we are good for a couple of months.  And I actually found some on the food lion shelves today and bought it for my mom.  I have a feeling that within a couple of weeks, the shortage will ease as people realize we aren't going to run out.
