Trading for Okung wasn’t as bad of a decision As many people think.

why bitch about it?

He's likely a Panther now. And we're off the hook for him next season. As someone said in the thread earlier, we probably weren't getting higher than 4th for Trai, and according to the Huddle Hurney can't draft well past the first anyway, why not take a shot on  a guy our O-line coach really wanted and at least gives us a starter going into the season?

English could be a second or third language for him, to be fair.  If not, yes.

I typed this at work on the shitter. Don’t care to punctuate to appease people who obviously find anything to critique. Just voiced my opinion. That’s what these forums are for, correct? Who am I to argue a point though, the color of my skin already deemed me lesser than. So I shouldn’t have expected any less from degenerates like you guys. Everyone else kept to topic but you two decided to try to go off on another tangent. For me this is hilarious because the internet allows people to feel a sense of courage to say whatever they feel without consequence. I appreciate the attempt to try to demean but at the end of the day I just care about the Panthers, both of y’all can take your futile attempts to put down a minority and go back to trying to be a football fan. Thanks!

They were not trying to put down a minority. They were trying to excuse your poor grammar and punctuation. But feel free to take it as an insult.

As for the trade, I am not fully on board with it, but i can see why they would unload Turner's contract, as he definitely has not played up to those standards.

Also, before June we should have a good idea of what we have in Okung as to long term usage or if he can even take the field.

If he can't play and is pretty much done, he can be cut at only a $3 million hit to our cap. We can move forward with Daley or Little or a draft pick.

If he can play, but the long term isn't there because of lingering injuries and age, then we have a good teaching LT for an almost reasonable $16 million (compare to Turner's basically $13 mill cap hit) and we're okay. We can also develop Daley and Little over this time.

Let's say best case scenario is that Okung looks good through OTAs and into the season. If there appears to be good tread left on his tires, the whole contract can be renegotiated and we can use leftover cap space to bonus him this season and get him on the cheap for say two more seasons ahead.

Overall, this scenario offers a couple of good wins and at worst a minimal downer. Hurney may well have done a really good trade here -- not quite a Greg Olsen for a 4th rounder trade, but still solid work.

Just to clarify, we can cut Okung with no cap hit and save the $13 million if we so choose. The Chargers are responsible for the $3 million you're quoting, whether we keep him or not. And thus we are paying Okung $13 million, not 16. Your general point stands; it's just even better than how you presented it.

Unfortunately for those that want Cam gone, this team isn't tanking. You don't tank if you have a franchise QB. Particularly if you know how to use him.

If healthy, Okung is exponentially better than anyone this team marched out there at LT last season. Hell the last 6 seasons if being honest. That position killed the offense more than any other.

Rhule isn't planning to rebuild. He's purging the players that underperformed and building a respectable team. Turner probably didn't fit the mold after Rhule saw his film from last season. Kiddie gloves are off. Get in the building and bust your tail like Cam, or....

I wasn't referencing the contracts.  BUT If you're containing it within this season, we're accepting both a larger contract and 9 mil in dead cap.  We're taking that so we don't have to deal with Turner next year.  There was more value to be had here.  We're effectively losing spending money to get rid of a guy and only receiving a 1-year stop gap in return.  It's not bad looking at the future but just hard to swallow.  I'd much prefer to be financially nimble in 2020 even if we're just in tear down.

Simple stop having expectations for 2020.. Their movement are clearly showing they are preparing to make 2021 more of a focal point...

If it was as bad as they made it seem why make a reference to English as a second language. Let alone the numerous other people commenting and just speaking on football. I am not butt hurt about it I just find people on the internet funny. Like I said in the previous post I didn’t give a crap if I was using proper literary etiquette I was just posting about football. Who gives a poo half the people on this forum cant read or write beyond an 8th grade level and too many times they are called out. Let people talk about the sport they love instead of correcting trivial poo. No one on here is better than anyone else so stfu and enjoy football talk.

I agree with you. It was a stupid comment to make, but I just don't think it was racially motivated.
