Who cares?

TBQH he was one of the softer players on defense at times.

Yeah, he can cover okay, but he got beat just as much as anyone.

I never saw any fire out of him or any kind of grit or swag.

Let him be someone else's cap anchor. Move on.

Fire and swagger are buzzwords that don't mean anything if you can't play. Donte Jackson and Josh Norman have "swagger" in spades and they both sucked horribly last year.

Bradberry isn't the best but the dude more than held his own against Julio, Evans, and Thomas (3 of the top 5 receivers in the league) 6 games a year.  Dude is an above average corner and if he leaves we will miss him tremendously.

The only other loss that will hurt this defense more next year is Luke.

The upside is loosing him would certainly put us on the way to the #1 pick next year.

Our secondary will be trash if our number 1 CB is Jackson with a rookie on the other side.

Losing Luke, Bradberry, even Poe and other pass rushers (Irvin, McCoy, etc. only adds up to tanking for Trevor... Look at our D last year with those players... Even if Cam comes back healthy next year, we’re not winning many games. Without Cam we’re a lock for 1st overall.

Luke's leadership and knowledge is a massive loss. I hope he comes back as a coach. Truth be told, Rivera's defense only showed up when Luke started playing MLB. He had probably lost a bit of a step, but he was still a very good player.

As far as Bradberry, I'm very in favor of letting him walk. His PFF grade (60.9) was only 3.4 points higher than Ross Cockrell (57.5). Is that worth $15m? I'd much rather see Cockrell brought back for a much cheaper price, add another veteran corner that can play in the slot and on the outside, and suddenly things don't look terrible on the outside.

I'd rather see Boston given a raise than Bradberry brought back.

At this juncture, he needs to walk, but he should have been signed last season, but we have a blind man behind the wheel, and an inexperienced captain asleep in his bunk.

That said, he was our 2nd best defender last season, and would likely be our best defender this season....as awful as that sounds.

Can anybody explain to me why we don't tag him and trade him since he has suitors?

Seems like we just wasting a good asset by allowing him to walk for free. What is the downside of a sign n trade for us?

All this does is just create another hole on defense. I get we are rebuilding but at least try to make use of your only assets. We could get a 2nd round pick for Bradberry easily with his market value.

The Josh Norman Rule

If we don't resign him we are back to 2016 bringing in rookies and jags while the division and league feast on our secondary and we give up yards in the air and on the ground. We have devolved from a Superbowl contender to the punching bag for the league. 2020 could make 2016 look tame by comparison.

He’s a very physical corner and willing tackler...if you’re overlooking that and calling him soft cause he doesn’t scream and pump his fist or do some gritty celebration after every play, then I think our definitions are very different.

In contrast, is Donte Jackson considered “tough” and “hard” then? And does that make you overlook all of his blown coverages because he does scream and pump his fist after he makes a play? How exactly has that helped our defense?

It was about the worst defense in the NFL last year. Not 2016. With JB and many other players now gone.

I’m just glad the person responsible for this punching bag is improving and doing a good job. No worries for the future.
