Eazy-E's mock draft | Update 4/4

Eazy-E

Recommended Posts

Fotu will be a 4th rounder most likely.  He's being mocked as high as the 3rd and as low as the 5th.  Usually that means his value is actually in the middle, so 4th.  The more reliable mocks have him going late 3rd (90s) to mid-4th (130s).

I am going out on a limb here---Top of First Round drama....(there is always one shocking pick in the first 2 hours)

Cincy--Burrow QB

Skins--Young DE

Lions---trade--LA Chargers---Herbert QB

Giants--Okudah CB

Dolphins--Tua QB

Chargers--trade Detroit--and here is the shocker---CJ Henderson, CB

Pick 7: Derrick Brown, DT.

UPDATE: Jeff Okudah, CB > Derrick Brown, DT > Isaiah Simmons, LB. At least one should be available when the Panthers pick. Can't go wrong with any of these guys.

Pick 38: Denzel Mims, WR.

UPDATE: Kyle Dugger, SS. After signing Robby Anderson I do not see the need to select a WR high in the draft. A secondary of Okudah, Jackson, Boston, and Dugger will be great moving forward. Looking at the NFCS, I think it is time to finally invest into the secondary.

Pick 69: Malik Harrison, LB

UPDATE: No Change. With the move back to a 4-3 defense I like this selection even more. A linebacker core of Whitehead - Thompson - Harrison no longer looks like a weakness on the defense.

Pick 113: Cesar Ruiz, C/LG

UPDATE: Leki Fotu, NT. I know he is no Star Lotulelei, but maybe having a true space eating nose tackle next to Kawann Short will allow him to actually earn some of his paycheck. Slowly the defense has gone from vomit inducing to looking like there is some potential.

I originally did not make selections past this point. Here is my continuation after doing some more research on potential prospects.

Pick 148: Damien Lewis, G. Very similar to Trai Turner also coming out of LSU. Should compete for the RG position.

Pick 152: Amik Robertson, SLCB. 5'8 scrappy, small school (LA Tech) corner with all the tools to be a successful NFL slot corner. Could develop very similarly to Captain Munnerlyn.

Pick 184: Jonathan Garvin, DE. This guy could really benefit from playing and developing under a coach like Matt Rhule.

Pick 221: Rodrigo Blankenship, K. Why the hell not. This team needs an open kicker competition.

I really think with this draft and maybe a few additions with post draft cuts in FA, this defense may surprise some people. If the Panthers are actually going to try and compete this season, a defensive heavy draft like this one is very much needed.

You could draft another CB who would be top 10 or 15 and sit Jackson for the year.  Maybe he might learn something watching instead of thinking he can play.  Worse tackler and only reason he gets interceptions is due to under throws by the other teams QB.  Hall and or Arnette  could be sitting nicely at 38.

You're counting on Little to be the LT of the future.  He will be gone next year.  Daly will be a good guard.

Oh I can't wait for this to comeback and bite you in your face.. If you weren't being such a douche based on a "walterfootball" breakdown it wouldn't be so bad.. But you are??

I also posted other scouting reports that said the same thing.  You just don't like I won't agree with you about Little.  Are you his agent.  You are working DANG HARD to sell us on him.

You posted 1 other report that had him still rated as a top 50 prospect and a top 5 tackle in the draft.. I don't like how you are so judgmental after 1 injury riddle season and you think your opinion is be all to end all based off of BS analysis from a BS site... If you weren't posting this poo in every thread like you need to reinforce this poo over and over again then it would be okay...  But at some point you're being a douche about it..

Well you're being the south end of a north bound donkey cause I won't agree with you that Little is a quality LT for the NFL.  Get over it.  We will be just agree to disagree.  How that for ya Bucky

I thought it was pretty clear that Okung is our stopgap left tackle while the new coaches try to develop Little and Daley.

That might be the plan but Little is no long term LT....Might make a decent guard and that is a big might.  With the three top tackles on the board at 7th why not go after one.  The problem with Cam the last 3 years.  His lines were mediocre and they didn't protect him the way they should have.  With TeddyB as QB he will not be the physical presence that Cam was and won't hold up to the beatings Cam took.  There is no guarantee that Okung will make it through the year or be starting.

Little was a rookie battling injuries with a revolving offensive line and coaching staff. No one should be writing him off yet. We have Okung this year to better evaluate Little in my opinion. If Little turns out to not be a good LT, Okung stays at LT and we look at one next year while trying Little at guard to see if he keeps a roster spot. I think he will be solid if he can stay healthy. He was one of the best pass blocking LTs in the draft last year.

No he wasn't one of the best pass blocking LT's in college.

Overview

Little possesses the important combination of size, length and quickness as a prototypical left tackle prospect. While he wasn't asked to do it much in 2018, he has the athletic ability to handle zone-blocking duties, which could suit his skill-set more than a physical rush attack. Little is a natural bender with good feet and pepper in his punch as blind-side protector, but his average anchor and inconsistent body control create some concern. He will be an early starter at left tackle, but needs to improve his strength and eliminate his tendency to lean in order to reach the potential his physical and athletic traits offer.

STRENGTHS

—Football bloodlines with a body that can still add bulk and strength.

—Three-year starter against the toughest competition in the country. Willing and able to take on the best edge-rusher.

—Agile feet to slide with and mirror quick edge-rushers and shows the ability to truly cut off the edge.

—Hands are always ready and waiting to strike and counter hand-fighting.

—Excellent arm length (35¼") with massive hands (10¼").

WEAKNESSES

—Anchor needs improving. More functional strength in his lower half will go a long way.

—Too often is a finesse blocker when he could easily overpower opponents.

—Gets beat too often by reaching for rushers rather than sitting back and waiting for them.

Effort may be his biggest red flag. Little tends to take plays off when he is either tired or when he knows the play won’t go his way. General managers and scouts will make a note of this. Defenses will also pick up on this in film and use it against him. This has to be fixed if Little wants to develop into a high-caliber NFL player.

In the clip, Little does not move his feet and chicken wing blocks him with his right arm. A chicken wing block is when you keep your arm in while blocking like you are doing the chicken dance. He doesn’t initiate contact nor reach out and maintain contact.

The last give clips and shows that he is not the great pass block Marty tried to sell us on.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
