How good could a bigger Brian Burns, KK Short, Derrick Brown, and the highly unlikely Jadeveon Clowney be for us?

It's amazing Clowney has never recorded a double-digit sack season .. he just turned 27 though, he still can get better. Make it happen Hurney.

His game is about so much more the sacks. One of the best run stoppers in the game

hence why I‘D say it’s more of a retool than rebuild, although clowney is unlikely due to the incoming bidding war to sign him, we are one good draft away from being consistently in contention.

Going forward it’s all about paying the right players and positions. Maybe one “big” fa and that’s it

Exactly. Honestly, two of 4 would likely underperform and you’d be wasting $35M this year. You could save $35M taking Brown and another solid DT (looks to be a bunch of them) and a DE later (again looks to be some solid late guys).

Short should be gone. He doesn’t fit a rebuild and he’s not worth $14M. We will Have to account for $17M in dead cap in 2020 or spread out over 2020 and 2021. If we waste another $14M on an old clearly worse DT coming off season ending surgery (hello Daryl and Paradis) then we are are even more stupid than restructuring him.

We have to pick Derrick Brown. Who is under contract on the D-Line? Kawaan Short coming off an injury, maybe Dontari Poe if they team doesn’t release him to save $10m. Too many holes on the defensive line to pass him up. If he’s not there, trade down and stock picks.

This.  I do not understand the obsession people have with Clowney around here.  Maybe it was because he played on a Carolina team and you guys can't see past that.  He was known for being lazy in Carolina...yes dude is good but he has literally never lived up to his potential, like ever.  I would love to have Clowney for "The Right Price" but getting him for that would not happen.  Someone is going to pay him a lot more money than we can offer.
