Extending Shaq vs Bradberry... another Hurney mistake?

Guess everyone knows James is looking for top CB money, I really don’t see how the Panthers can afford it or will even entertain the thought of paying him that kind of money when the roster looks like a hunk of Swiss cheese.

Was just wondering what you guys think about Hurney extending Shaq instead of Brad now that we will more than likely lose our best CB.

Both should have been done last year at much lower prices. That’s why you get to Moton and Samuel now. Not next year.

Shaq is young enough to be effective through his contract. It’s an OK deal. Little too much but not enough to hurt if he plays decent. And it shouldn’t affect JB decision. If you think JB is going to be a top 10 CB in 3 years, you sign him. If not, don’t.

Just don’t tag him. That’s useless.

Everything is a mistake, yet nothing is a mistake.

Once you release all your expectations and begin to accept that this football team is destined for perpetual failure and disappointment, minuscule decisions like this are just lint on your boobs.

Shaq had a number that was close to what we wanted to retain him at, Bradberry did not.

If James ever improves his ball skills then he'd earn more respect on a national level.

Not a mistake at all, these things happen. Like any of us would be happy with Bradberry at his rumored number.

The way the rebuild is going on I don't see why we didn't just let Shaq and Bradberry go. We could of just got a cheaper LB. Nobody on this board likes Shaq anyway.

I think Shaq is a good guy and has been a good player......Just not good enough for a second contract. When he had a death in the family last season the writing was on the wall that he was gonna get resigned. No way that happens and at the end of season the Panthers tell him to go find a new team. We all know how this team loves to build these emotional connections with the players which lead to bad business decisions.

Carolina seems to put a big value on the MLB position in terms of draft capital spent and contracts handed out. Picking Shaq over Bradberry is consistent with that but if it's correct remains to be seen.

I do agree with picking Shaq over Bradberry. Shaq provides more versatility in what defenses he fits into. Bradberry is a zone corner and the FO couldn't have known what the new DC would run when they decided to sign Shaq.

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
