"This organization see's Moore as a #2 WR"

Moore is a Top 5 WR in the NFL - or will be ..

Moore has 1,963 receiving yards in two seasons .. 37 yards short from averaging 1,000 yards receiving his first two seasons.

1000 yard seasons do not make #1 Wrs. See Kelvin Benjamin.

In today's NFL top receivers net 1000yds near 100 catches and 8+TDS. And that is consistently. See Michael Thomas, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown before he went crazy.

Dj Moore is a WR2 with WR1 Ceiling which is great. But he's not in the number conversation yet.

When I hear anyone, be they huddler, former all pro WR, NFL team owner or a somehow still hanging onto his job after a mostly losing career resume GM, say that they view a WR who was top ten in yardage last season despite playing with backup quality qb's at best, missing a game and playing on a team with an awful record as a #2 WR, what that tells me is their definition of a #1 is something very few teams have, and therefore is not really essential. Did either of the two teams that just played in the SB have a true #1 by any definition that doesn't include Moore?

No?

Then who cares?

Are they talking about talent, or which WR plays the X or Z or slot?

That could be all they are talking about.  They see him as a Z or a slot moreso than an X.

And it makes sense in that respect. Moore is a stud, no matter what fictional number someone labels him with. A different X that moves him to Z, and more importantly get Samuel in the slot/weapon role he’s much better suited for. Doesn’t mean less targets. Just matching him up with different CBs. And if Brady is going to run 4WR sets, I’m putting both in the slots. If either one can get matched up with a S, it should be easy pickings.

BUT THAT CAN"T BE IT!!!!!!!

It has to mean the team thinks he sucks!!!!

I agree with you, IMO it's just they don't think he has the skillset to be an X in that he doesn't posses those routes yet, and can't beat press man as well as the X in their minds.

He could turn into an X, but it's not really his natural spot at this time.

And this is why Steve Smiff will never be a GM.  Lack of current perspective, showboat reminiscing, inability to understand comparative statistics, shock-jock envy and jump to judgement are all playing a roll.

He was an ultra great/violent/aggressive player, but cerebral was never a word used to describe 89.

Lies told loud have no more weight than lies told timidly.

Whatever they play, Moore and Samuel need 3-5 rushes each week. Our RB2 is on the field. Both are at their best with ball in their hands.

Yup, agreed.

I don't care what the Panthers call Moore, he's an amazing YAC guy...if he can figure out how to run routes, just the slight nuances of the game, he can be a really good player.

Let's hope the new staff helps him learn and excel.

Perhaps the question becomes how much of that was game impactful and how much was garbage time stats ?

game impactful means moving the chains for a first down or TD when he was the key player in the play called or, do teams scheme to shut him down because they see him as a weapon

I don’t want a receiver that sounds like he’s one of the Jetsons,..

anyway, DJ is really good, but I still say it would be great to have a TY Hilton or Ted Ginn type of receiver again,..

we also really need another tightend.

a “number one” receiver like people say, the Antonio Browns and the Julio’s and the Megatrons didn’t win their teams Superbowls.

Sammy Watkins most definitely showed up and helped the Chiefs, but he was paired with Hill and they have Kelce

so get a TY Hilton/Hill/Ginn that can go down field and a Kelce.
