I'd like to see steve smith play with a busted cam newton or kyle allen.

dj moore can be a #1.  is he? hard to say, because fuging kyle allen was throwing him the ball.

Smith made Delhomme look like a pro Bowl QB. Moore isn't Smith but Brady is going to make him look good. I also think he fits a WCO/RPO offense better than a Coryell imo.

no doubt smitty was a beast, but Delhomme was a probowl qb in the early/mid 2000s.  Arguably his best season statistically was when smitty was injured even, lol.

and again, Kyle Allen wishes he was Jake Delhomme of the early 2000s.  Or at least, I do...

Smh so much hate for a kid who was thrust into a horrible situation. Delhomme has the arguably the best WR duo of that time in Smith and Moose. Jakes best season was a result of Moose ripping apart the league. Unfortunately we didn't have enough juice to push for a SB that year. Just like when Smith got the triple Crown. Always the bridesmaid never the bride in Carolina.

D.J. Moore had almost 1,200 yards last season while missing a game. He did this on a team without a quarterback, and in an offense that revolved around force feeding a running back touches. If he's not a number one, then what is he? Is a number one reserved just for the elite? If so only a few teams in the league have a number one, and trying to find one is a luxury.

So Hurney's last two 1st round draft picks are a #2 WR and a back-up (but very talented) DE who may not have a scheme-fit unless played as a 3-4 OLB.

I don't k ow why that's a bad thing.

A #2 WR is still a starter.

Does it?

If that’s really the opinion coming from the organization it does. Moore is on his way to being a top 5 league wide premiere WR who’s gonna get a huge payday. Even if they are just saying it to motivate it shows the “program” is dumb.

Who knows if it’s true or just Smitty and the host hyperbolizing. But if it is. Dumb.

A 1000 yard WR in today's NFL is not an overwhelmingly awesome WR.  that is about 6 catches and 74 yards per game.  He will be 23 in April, so he is on the right track.

He had 1175 yards when the offense was not good---a bad line and bad QB.

To compare, in 2010, with Clausen and not Kyle Allen at QB, Steve Smith (in 14 games) had 554 yards an averaged 39.6 yards per game.

Regardless of the #1 or #2 status, and top WR in the mix is going to take pressure off Moore--less S cheating over the top, less #1 CB attention.  And a better OL and better QB should equate to better numbers.

I think Moore is fringe, but he is on track to be a solid #1 if that is what you call it.  Bring in a #1/2 WR and move Curtis S to the slot, and we are dangerous.

See my post a few seconds ago about Smitty and Moore--it supports you.

When I hear anyone, be they huddler, former all pro WR, NFL team owner or a somehow still hanging onto his job after a mostly losing career resume GM, say that they view a WR who was top ten in yardage last season despite playing with backup quality qb's at best, missing a game and playing on a team with an awful record as a #2 WR, what that tells me is their definition of a #1 is something very few teams have, and therefore is not really essential. Did either of the two teams that just played in the SB have a true #1 by any definition that doesn't include Moore?

No?

Then who cares?

Dude was a top 10 NFL WR with Kyle Allen throwing him the ball. If the Panthers' organization feels he's "only" a #2 then it seems as if the Panthers' organization agrees with the Huddle's opinion that the only viable "#1 WRs" are mythological beasts the who consumes his opponents with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse.

Yeah but I want one of those arse firing Mfers on this team.  How long has it been since a WR actually scared a defense?
