REPORT: Panthers targeting Ryan Tannehill in free agency

Per Mike Freeman of Bleacherreport 

The always excellent Ian Rapoport from NFL Network reported that—for now—the Panthers are planning to move forward with Cam Newton.

That may end up being the case, but teams I speak to don't buy it. They believe the Panthers are going to pursue a QB in free agency, and the name I keep hearing is Ryan Tannehill.

The Panthers, goes the thinking around the league, are playing a nice game of poker and aren't close to settling on Newton.

Tannehill looked good this year. That's what a competent coaching staff can do--they can evaluate the entire program for their strengths and build upon that. This year they were a wide zone/play action off of it team and Tannehill feasted tbh.

I saw him hand it off every time and look terrible when he had to get in shotgun and pass. Only looked good off play action dump offs

And this is why you take rumors with a grain of salt. A couple of days ago Panthers keeping Cam, 2 days later Panthers pursuing Ryan Tannehill.lol

 

Like I said wait until after FA until we start making assumptions Cam is returning. Anything can happen in FA.
