What are the chances we make a splashy FA signing?

I wouldn't hold my breath.

Doesn't even sound like we're making that much of an effort to keep our own best free agents.

I think you're using the term a bit loosely since the same best free agents were responsible for back to back losing seasons the last two seasons. :/

In the real world, you stop playing the lottery when you understand that you really can't win (it's just a tax on people who can't do math). And honestly, it's close to the same in football, except that your chances of hitting a great big name free agent that pays off is about 1 in 500, rather than 1 in 4.7 million with the lottery.

Fools chase other people's riches.

Ecept people DO win. Look at the bucs and shaq Barrett, titans and tannihill. I dont get your comparison at all. Your saying all free agents are busts?

You're the one that reckoned it to playing the lottery...

Look at McCoy, look at Brown, look at (and the list just goes on and on and on with FAs that underperform for big, big checks). Barrett was playing for little money (he wasn't s splash signing at the time) and Tannehill was a trade.

The point being is free agent  acquisitions can work. And yes I likened it to the lottery because there is a chance it could fail. There are numerous stories of success as well, john brown buffalo,  mark Ingram for the ravens, justin Houston for the colts breshad perriman had success. And even tho it could blow up in your face you dont stop trying.

I seem to believe this years FA signings will be guys that aren’t “splash” names. I just keep thinking about all the talk of “development & guys that are willing to learn”. I’d lean towards guys people will be like “He didn’t work at bla bla team, why would we get him!”

I’m really excited to see the coaching staff’s approach towards who’s a right fit. I think it might surprise us how no names might really fit here!

Just my 2 cents.
