How many GM's draft better than Hurney?

The number of starters is irrelevant. If your team is poo you will have more rookie starters.

Really? Worse than finishing on a 7-game losing streak? That king of bad? CAR had a rotation DE/OLB and an injured tackle. A QB started because of pity and desperation. Daley started because of injury. What’s that? About 25 starts.

I know you want everything that hurts your point to be irrelevant, but in the real world you don’t get to choose your own facts. But keep trying.

Dave Gettleman has been worse than Hurney over the last two seasons. 4-12, 5-11. Giants fans want him gone.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. No matter how ridiculous it is. Just stop asking questions you don’t/can’t or won’t answer.

What happens when you compare their careers? Or are we still picking whatever helps? How far are we from you crying for me to put you on ignore?

Hurney is the better GM right now. Things can change.

I'd say he's top 10 for sure. Can you list 10 GM's with a proven track record of drafting better?

I'll give you one,  John Schneider (Seahawks), now who can name 9 more?

If you provide me some info, I can actually do some numbers on this.

Do you want to weight by round(7th round weighted more than 6th round, etc, etc) or just take the overall draft results? I can use PFR's AV and CarAV metrics to gauge player performance.

I feel like it’s simpler to review each year and see how are draft classes stack up against others.

In terms of weighing it, I’d give more credit to hitting on the first 3 rounds. For example, if a GM finds a few gems in the late rounds but consistently misses in early rounds, then he just got lucky. If you knew a player was going to be so great, why did you wait til the 6th round to grab him and proceed to draft 3 bust before hand in earlier rounds?

I think hitting on first rounders is more important than anything. They give you the 5th year option and make star players much more affordable. They are expected to start right away as well. If for some reason you can’t find a player you like in the first, you can then trade it for a proven commodity.

I think trying to quantify by stats alone would be tough. But if you insist here are some things I’d consider.

Total number of starts for each players career would be a good start. Then you could look up individual accolades, for instance where does a WR drafted in 2013 stack up against every other receiver drafted that year in receptions, yards and TD’s?

Says the guy who only ever comes on to talk about Marty :)

Actually, that's probably not true. You talk about me as much or more as you talk about Marty.

As has been mentioned before, I live in your head :shades:

For the record though, I think the OP actually believes this stuff, which arguably makes it worse.

Lmao! Dude, get some help.

As has been mentioned ad nauseam Marty Hurney isn't a great GM but since his return he has been an upgrade to what we had before. Injuries have derailed the past two seasons but you'd be hard pressed to knock his drafts or work in FA. Could we do better? Yes. Are we doing better than the Giants? Yes.

For those who give him credit for first rounders, could literally anyone else get those right? I give him credit for luke but he was also the best at a position that wasn't highly sought that Year. Anyone would have chosen cam. Cmc was a risk bc hes a rb and we didn't go fornette or cook. Burns is a bust and DJ isn't a true #1 according to smitty
